#Deck Brewing General
1 messages · Page 2 of 1
yeah, after adding the monk of the open hand i noticed the typings were getting a bit spread out. At first there was a lot of clerics
i was thinking about adding [[Adamant will]] or [[Offer Immortality]] for some combat tricks
i feel being able to make your growing creatures survive early so that they can carry late would be an idea
but i dont know if that's what you'd want
[[renegade's getaway]] also gives a target for village rites but it's a bit expensive
I’d recommend [[! Shelter]] since it draws you a card. Idk, the ones you picked out are good to.
oh yeah, that looks great
Power level is something to keep in mind also. You want to keep the decks on a roughly even playing field if you’re going to want to play them against each other multiple times.
Don’t want every game to end up one sided.
That’s just not super fun. You can adjust and swap cards as you play together. It’s not an exact science
yeah, i've been trying out the decks against each other in a program called Forge but the AI isn't very good so i dont really know how they'll measure up against each other
Well, thank you so much pkele, you've been a great help i'll try ordering this and see how it fares against the others 😄
This is a bit different for what I had envisioned for my Kaalia of the Vast deck, but this is what I am going for at the moment. I’m just missing a Bloodstained Mire and a Dockside.

Oh and Read the Bones
Okay so I did a slight rehaul of this deck adding more synergistic pieces with tokens and treasures and removing generic cards and some removal spells, because I'm intentionally making this deck less powerful overall and more focused on the things I want to do with it. Any and all recommendations are welcome, thanks.

When people talk about adding Ramp or Lands to their deck, do mana rocks count as Ramp, or as Lands? Trying to follow the prof's formula for making a Commander deck
Oh, I think I can answer this. I'm a new player of magic. It depends on the deck. But technically yes, mana rocks are ramp. But, they are not as stable as actual lands and spells that search for or tutor for land. Cultivate, and Kodama's Reach, 3 visits, nature's lore are common staples in green. The reason it's not as stable is the commander format is the contract players have with each other, like commonly not destroying lands in most decks therefore harder to destroy while artifacts and creatures most are okay with removing easily excluding the problematic strategies including Stax, MLD.
If I ever go below 5 cards in hand and it’s not from an opponent making me discard I feel like I’ve built my deck wrong
Exactly, after 5 in the opening hand, it feels like dimensioning returns. I like running 35 lands, nothing lower. My Bright-Palm Soul Awakener deck has 37 lands. I keep hands that I can play/use only and never go below 5 cards in hand. I have a great ramp in Bright Palm. Mana dorks, those ramp spells I mentioned. In all, it depends on the deck. The only rocks I usually run are Solring, and Arcane Signet in every deck of mine. A couple more in Veyran (spell slinger in Izzet.) Izzet rocks mainly in that one. So it depends on the deck. But rocks are easily destroyed so land is the sure safe option especially when not in green. Green has the best ramp.
Ideally, 2 or 3 lands out of 7 are land, and something to play turn 2 or 3 like a Birds of Pardice or a ramp spell. Turn-one plays are rare and a delight.
It’s true. I find the best part of the game is drawing cards. They could be anything, even the ability to draw more cards!
I hope I answered your question
Same. My second favorite in swinging damage and Monarchy in magic. It's so fun
I feel like Monarchy is just the overlap of a ven diagram of swinging and drawing cards, but I totally agree.
Swinging is great and monarchy help the game move along.
You did!
Great to hear! I also recommend this series of Tolarian Community College, for more info. Tolarian Tutor series. It helped me a lot. I've only played Commander and Magic for less than a year. So I hope this all helps
Oh, I almost forgot my favorite green mana rock. The Great Henge. It's so good.
Quick question is 9 mana rocks too much for a nekusar deck( 3 signet, talisman and the usual ring sphere arcane) also wayfarers
Probably but playtest the deck some. Could be your draw power is good enough the number of draw spells you have doesn't have a detrimental effect
are there any other cards like [[bravado]] in mono red? artifacts also
[[Mob Mentality]] found one in enchantments!
Can I get some help with this deck? It's mono black and wants me to gain as much life as possible before my endstep so my commander, Gollum, can deal massive damage.
https://www.archidekt.com/decks/5065728/filthy_hobbitses
If you're making an Esper Faerie/Angel deck is there any reason you should have Alela as your commander?
Anyone want to help me out with my Edgar Markov deck? I feel like it is a little inconsistent https://www.moxfield.com/decks/CQw8RP-UA0ibILpEFUduvg
I'm thinking about some sort of deck that can utilise [[Enterprising Scallywag]] well - anything that makes treasure tokens would effectively replace itself well (It'll have to be a casual modern, prioneer or standdard deck though to take advantage of multiple-ofs)
it's a VERY good effect for an uncommon
Unles I make red/green/white with [[Sun's avatar]] and [[deepest foundation]]
Multiple cards match “Sun's avatar”, can you be more specific?
Legendary Creature — God
Vigilance
If one or more creature tokens would be created under your control, three times that many of those tokens are created instead.
When Ojer Taq dies, return it to the battlefield tapped and transformed under its owner's control.
6/6
Temple of Civilization
Land
(Transforms from Ojer Taq, Deepest Foundation.)
: Add
.

,
: Transform Temple of Civilization. Activate only if you attacked with three or more creatures this turn and only as a sorcery.
Chimil gave the Oltec life. Ojer Taq taught them how to live together.
[[gishath, sun's avatar]]
Legendary Creature — Dinosaur Avatar
Vigilance, trample, haste
Whenever Gishath, Sun's Avatar deals combat damage to a player, reveal that many cards from the top of your library. Put any number of Dinosaur creature cards from among them onto the battlefield and the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.
7/6
(including [[Poetic Ing]])
and [[doubling season]] and [[anointed procession]], [[parallel lives]], [[primal vigor]], lol
Any suggestions which route to go down (Gishath commander or just red/green pioneer with poetic and focus on dinos and treasure tokens for ramp) appreciated!
I could use a few other sets of eyes on a few decks! 🤝
made my first deck to play commander with some friends
any suggestions? the "maybeboard" is cards I have right now
I would say you probably want some more interaction, such as removal and counterspells
you can probably cut the anthems, chanes are with your ETB burn enchantments and just the sheer amount of tokens you create, you don't really need them
[[Decaying timeloop]] seems great for a deck like this
Instant
Discard all the cards in your hand, then draw that many cards.
Retrace (You may cast this card from your graveyard by discarding a land card in addition to paying its other costs.)
"We try, it doesn't work, we try again. We learn, we improve, we fail again, but better." —The Thirteenth Doctor
consider cutting Into the night, just because introducing the day/night mechanic into a game that otherwise may not really need it is kinda annoying
Did a few more revisions on my Edgin deck, there was a point I was turning it into a spellslinger deck but I decided to go to a more Light Stax (Nothing incredibly oppressive just sprinkling of random hatebears) / Goad theme
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/o-tq8Hfx8kGpsBRlgPSgBA
Something that might be really dumb is I didn't put a single card here that would cause me to shuffle my deck, and as well as to make me care about my GY (There's like two cards here now that can be casted from the GY, as well as 1 card that allows to freecast an Instant/Sorcery from the GY by chance)
That's a solid list and I love the inclusion of Worldfire. Foretell the right cards and that is a good finisher
Yeah, was originally Apocalypse but Worldfire changed it from a reset into an actual finisher.
There's a couple core cards there that I really don't want or can't get rid of because of how they could theoretically be finishers (Mind's Desire, Worldfire, Impending Flux, Possibility Storm) and a couple more pet cards I've been waffling over
As someone who has never built an izzet deck, how would I build [[Saheeli, the sun's brilliance]], I've been told to look at "artifact good stuff" but aren't sure what to do with that. Any commanders that are similar so I can look at some decklists?
Legendary Creature — Human Artificer

,
: Create a token that's a copy of another target creature or artifact you control, except it's an artifact in addition to its other types. It gains haste. Sacrifice it at the beginning of the next end step.
What began as a single gift for Huatli became a battalion of automatons unlike anything ever seen on Ixalan.
2/2
So, someways to build Saheeli is just a fair value Artifact ETB deck that looks to double up on good artifacts that can punch face. Then you get to complicated stuff like ending the turn when you get the End Step triggers to keep the tokens permanently.
You could go ETB good stuff in those colors. If you want an artifact theme, I would go with cards like [[Wurmcoil Engine]] or [[Myr Battlesphere]] for an aggressive go wide that'll help discourage attacks that you can later use in any artifact infinite combo you may need
Artifact Creature — Myr Construct
When Myr Battlesphere enters the battlefield, create four 1/1 colorless Myr artifact creature tokens.
Whenever Myr Battlesphere attacks, you may tap X untapped Myr you control. If you do, Myr Battlesphere gets +X/+0 until end of turn and deals X damage to the player or planeswalker it's attacking.
4/7
I would also add untappers so you you can use Saheeli multiple times each turn
I could use some help cutting down on this deck. I feel like it's set up nicely with core pieces and support, but I fear it may have too many pet or fun cards. Plus it's also 12 cards over the limit
https://www.archidekt.com/decks/5881864/cyber_zombies
The commander is [[The Cyber-Controller]]
Legendary Artifact Creature — Cyberman
When The Cyber-Controller enters the battlefield, each opponent mills X cards. Put all creature cards milled this way onto the battlefield face down under your control. They're 2/2 Cyberman artifact creatures.
Other artifact creatures you control get +1/+1.
3/3
Do yall think [[oran frostfang]] would be still good in a [[godzilla, king of the monsters]] deck? It functionally loses 4 toughness but man those combat triggers still make me consider if a 5 mana 2/2 worth it
The question here is, can you pay less mana for a similar effect? With Ohran losing 4 toughness, it makes it worth looking into alternative cards foe the effects
Right, it's basically [[toski bearer of secrets]] and [[bow of nylea]] sre what id need to add to make it unnecessary, or [[samut visir of]] could work if I added more haste effects, it just only works that turn. I could certainly add toski and nyleas bow, honestly toski might go in even if I keep the frostfang in
Legendary Enchantment Artifact
Attacking creatures you control have deathtouch.

,
: Choose one —
• Put a +1/+1 counter on target creature.
• Bow of Nylea deals 2 damage to target creature with flying.
• You gain 3 life.
• Put up to four target cards from your graveyard on the bottom of your library in any order.
[[Samut, visier of]]
No card found for “Samut, visier of”
Can anyone reccomend about 30 creature/artidact cards for a Quitorius Loremaster deck please? Kinda struggling after 70
It's a zirda companion deck so every card has an activated ability
It's an artifact discard deck
Ohhh thats neat
There isn't much spirit support with activated abilities so feel free to just cut the artifact infinite stuff
Pricy, but cool as heck
Wait I can just buy 100 proxies and play it??
Yep
As long as the folks you're against are chill with it and I've never played a game where it wasn't but
Yeah I just proxy everything that's not a special foil
Oh well thats nice to know
Certainly saves your wallet
My play groups are super chill about proxies. If you already own the card or if it's a powerhouse in a super weak deck, than your fine.
Upgraded my Merfolk deck with the new cards from the Precon. Now I just need to buy the singles I need from the set and it'll be good to go
https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/tappy-tappy-mers/
This is very solid, maybe add [[$underworld cookbook]]? Ik recursion can be hard in mono red and its a discard outlet
$0.22 • €0.16 • 0.03 TIX
$0.25 • €0.23 • 10.92 TIX
[[Underworld cookbook]]
Upgraded the Vampire Precon and need to make 3 cuts. No, I am not cutting a single Dracual card
https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/draculas-conquest/?cb=1700279887
-dramatic finale
-thalisse, reverent medium
-commissar severina raine
ez cuts as theyre your only non vampire creatures and an eh enxhantment
I’d say cut Vona butcher of matan for sure
I actually made all my cuts. In trible decks, as long as you have the proper surpluses of creatures, you can add one or 2 support creatures that aren't the same type. This deck wants to go wide with a bunch of tokens, so their inclusion actually helps to that end
I’m working on a budget
Drivnod deck. The more expensive cards are ones that I already happen to have. Any suggestions that I might have missed? https://www.moxfield.com/decks/3iXat7CzFUqQp91V6DTugw
Any kind of recursion, you wanna be able to bring your value pieces back from the grave after they die
So like, [[Oversold Cemetery]] and [[Phyrexian Reclamation]]?
i saw you say you werent cutting any dracula cards and thought that meant ANY vampire cards haha hence my suggestions
[[victimize]] is one of my all time insta includes in death trigger/reccursion decks
Can’t believe I forgot about victimize. Are there any cuts you’d suggest for those?
hmmm thats hard since you already have a 102 card count
The victimize and one of the recursion pieces are the extra 2 cards
honestly altar of dementia seems like not a huge benefit to have without large amounts of recursion since a lot of your creatures are like less than 5 power
i suppose youd be milling twice that much with drivnod
Nah, drivnod doesn’t double it. Altar of dimentia was just the first thing to come to mind for “free sac outlet” when putting the list together
Altar is an activated ability, drivnod only doubles triggered abilities
true i suppose sac outlets are important for the deck to function
i was also going to suggest a couple of cards that are a little pricy although one has come down due to a reprint
[[pitiless plunderer]]
[[kokusho, the evening star]]
I do really like the kokusho suggestion. My main issue I’ve had when borrowing/trying out other people’s Aristocrats decks is they have a million things that want things to die, but aren’t willing to actually be the thing to get killed.
i have a decklist which i havent put together irl yet and its all about blwing up my own stuff liek kokusho or bringning them back from graveyard for cheap
in fact its part of the reason i suggest kokusho cause its just good value
Sweet list.
I could cut butcher of malakir. It seems like a little bit of a win more card.
What do you think.
i could see that although it is one of your only higher cost cards
mire triton seems to not do a lot for you
apart from being a deathtoucher
Yeah, that makes sense
I could cut Gnawing Vermin. It checks a lot of boxes for the deck, but is just really low impact
i love tragic slip but sometimes nothing dies in a turn and you have a -1/-1 spell in hand when you need that -13/-13
gnawing vermin is also a solid option since it essentially gives liitle to no value even on death
[[malakir rebirth]] would also be good for keeping something on the board when someones trying to kill it or you just want more value
Instant
Choose target creature. You lose 2 life. Until end of turn, that creature gains "When this creature dies, return it to the battlefield tapped under its owner's control."
"Those who fail to escape Malakir become part of the city's defense." —Doros, expedition guide
Malakir Mire
Land
Malakir Mire enters the battlefield tapped.
: Add
.
"Getting into Malakir isn't difficult. It's getting out that's the hard part." —Doros, expedition guide
and a personal favourite of mine for death triggers [[saw in half]]
Instant
Destroy target creature. If that creature dies this way, its controller creates two tokens that are copies of that creature, except their base power is half that creature's power and their base toughness is half that creature's toughness. Round up each time.
The audience always loves it, but volunteers are divided.
I valued Vermin for its mill to be more likely to have the cards in graveyard to make drivnod indestructible.
But it might be a bit of a trap
you already have a fair amount of low mana curve cards that will probably chump block and die anyway for that
True. The game plan is doing value sacrificing and then either drawing or tutoring a Living Death to bring it all back and drain the table.
id personally remove transmogrants crown too
Really? What’s wrong with it?
you have something much better already in skull clamp
It is worse than S.C. It’s mostly for redundancy. But I do really want to sqeeze in saw in half, so I’ll cut it for that
Thanks for the advice
I look forward to trying the deck out.
no problem. i love suggesting saw in half its such an underrated card
Gotta love those pocket picks.
My pocket pick for underrated/ovelooked card is [[! Nanogene Conversion]] for any commander with an end of turn effect or a triggered ability that stacks well and you can trigger easily.
Stuff like Talrand, Sky Summoner, or Urza, Chief Artificer.
oh yeah that could be sick
i dont think i have any decks that could work for hmm maybe jodah and just have everything be a cascade jodah for a turn
oh hmmm actually maybe not good since the copies stop being legendary so they dont get the buff form other creatures
Hey how do we feel about Malcolm Kediss in the format rn
Who's that
this is the way
guys any copy effects for [[balmor battlemage]]? i want to copy her so i can make my creatures huge with 2 or 3 balmor triggers- spark double is already in the deck
Veyran is a castharmonicon
[[Veyran, voice of duality]]
Legendary Creature — Efreet Wizard
Magecraft — Whenever you cast or copy an instant or sorcery spell, Veyran, Voice of Duality gets +1/+1 until end of turn.
If you casting or copying an instant or sorcery spell causes a triggered ability of a permanent you control to trigger, that ability triggers an additional time.

Hey guys, im new to the game and decided to get into the game with this set. I bought two booster boxes and Im trying to build a blue/black deck with what I have. I have 2 questions. How many lands should I have in my deck? I have 16 I think from the booster boxes. Ive got a couple extra that I can put in if need be.Also, would anyone be down to help me build a good deck?
First, what format are you trying to build a deck for. Or rather, what format are the people you want to play against playing? Do they play commander? Do youguys just play casual "kitchen table" magic? (Aka just classic 60 card decks with cards you own)
It's gonna be hard to give you precise recommendations for the latter, since we don't know what cards you actually have. For 60 card decks, try bumping up your land count to around 24 lands though.
if you want to play commander, then the best way to start is to actually buy one of the preconstructed decks. Pretty much all of the commander decks that came out in like the past year or 2 are pretty playable out of the box, with some small and easy upgrades you can do.
Building a commander deck using only cards from boosters is going to be rather difficult, as you are very limited in your selection. One of the appeals of commander is that you have access to magic's entire card pool, barring some banned cards.
If you're completely new, then starting with a preconstructed commander deck makes the most sense. It is the most popular casual format.
Building a deck from scratch when you're completely new is not an easy task, it probably makes more sense to get your grip on an already built deck, not only to be able to get some games in, but also to see how a deck is generally constructed.
alot of people at my local card shop play commander. But I really like the standard format. Thats what Im trying to build for now. IVe got like 600 cards to work with atm
most coming from ixalan, and about 100 coming from march of the machines
Would anyone be willing to give me some advice on my [[Edgar markov]] deck? I think I did OK brewing wise, but I want to power it up even more. There are 4 combo lines which may be too much. There's Blood Artist with Oathsworn and Phyrexian Altar, Blood Artist with Dusk legion sargent and First day of class, Excuisite Blood and Vito and the Cloudstone Curio with Voldaren Epicure. My issue is I feel like I am not getting into the combos effectively enough, and wanted to know what the community thinks I could do to fix the deck. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/CQw8RP-UA0ibILpEFUduvg
Anyone got any decklists for a Boros Spirits deck?
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/7LoC3Q8k50yn_r-TgK1oBw I was given a copy of [[Omniscience]] and [[Storm of Saruman]] for my Lord of the Nazgul deck, but I'm having trouble choosing what to take out. Can anyone give me some suggestions?
Enchantment
Ward
Whenever you cast your second spell each turn, copy it, except the copy isn't legendary. You may choose new targets for the copy. (A copy of a permanent spell becomes a token.)
Isengard had once been filled with fruitful trees, but no green thing grew there in the latter days of Saruman.
What are some generally good Green Black cards for [[Old Stickfingers]]?
Legendary Creature — Horror
When you cast this spell, reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal X creature cards. Put all creature cards revealed this way into your graveyard, then put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.
Old Stickfingers's power and toughness are each equal to the number of creature cards in your graveyard.

anything with dredge probably
yea, i did add some dredge cards along side alot of mill cards
https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/15-11-18-who-ya-gonna-call/
Ive built this jank years ago. Any tips on making it slightly better?
is 13 ramp artifacts too many?
any suggestions on swaps from the sideboard?
I'm not really confident on which control/draw spells are best here
I need help with what to cut for ramp & draw
Do you all think I could get away with removing [[Demonic Tutor]] for [[Diabolic Intent]] specifically in this deck? The only reason I'm considering this is because I'm kinda broke rn lol
I'm not sure who to brew next, any help? [[Muldrotha, the Gravetide]] or [[Winota, Joiner of Forces]] or [[Nekusar, the Mindrazer]] and lastly [[The Mimeoplasm]]
Legendary Creature — Human Warrior
Whenever a non-Human creature you control attacks, look at the top six cards of your library. You may put a Human creature card from among them onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. It gains indestructible until end of turn. Put the rest of the cards on the bottom of your library in a random order.
4/4
Legendary Creature — Zombie Wizard
At the beginning of each player's draw step, that player draws an additional card.
Whenever an opponent draws a card, Nekusar, the Mindrazer deals 1 damage to that player.
His enemies wondered if the lich king's brutal death and unnatural rebirth had been his plan all along.

I would like to build an Izzet spellslinger deck. Super aggro, minimal creatures, instants-heavy, some counterspell, counter creature stuff. Izzet spellslinger. The thing is, I'm pretty new and don't know all the cards and stuff. I know I'l want Lightning bolt and other simple deal damage cards like it, maybe at tolarian terror if it's common, but idk what else. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
I can't find the tag for pauper but it should be pauper
I need some decks that have been famously marked up and the average market price you'll find them for nowadays
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/tbQNWAJHV0eKhBS1zArnKQ
Rate this deck I made :D.
Quite proud of it
28 lands seems insanely low for a deck that doesn't run a bunch of fast mana
I don’t really see the reason for why mirrorbox is in there
I’ve started brewing an Izzet deck led by [[Vadrik, Astral Archmage]] and am trying to give myself a bit of a challenge to keep the budget around $100 (tcgplayer puts the deck at $90 currently before any shipping costs). When fishbowling the deck it can consistently combo off turn 5 or 6 but I keep wondering if there are some cards that should be swapped in as seen in the maybeboard and if I might be running on the lower side for removal.
https://archidekt.com/decks/6096577/vadrik_astral_stormchaser
Any previous spellslinger deck I’ve run has been more control and value focused, outlasting my opponents until I have a combo assembled to win or just create a bunch of copies of a finisher. In comparison this deck is trying to have a single explosive turn, make Vadrik stupidly swole, and assemble some combo with the value engine that the draw, cost reduction, and mana generation make. So I’m brewing a bit outside of my wheelhouse here.
Depends on the deck and it's mana curve. I used to run 35. I run 37 in Bright-Palm because of the high CMC of my stuff
built + bought my first homemade commander deck, but it'll probs be time to upgrade it in about sixth months so if there's anything glaringly easy to fix i'd love to hear ideas? https://www.moxfield.com/decks/Vfxq7JtM20K3-Ow3yvUy5A
Any help removing 5 cards.

Trying to figure out which of the sideboard options to add for my [[Ixhel, Scion of Atraxa]] deck. Open to other cuts for the sideboard though https://archidekt.com/decks/5202416/corrupting_influence_ixhel
Legendary Creature — Phyrexian Angel
Flying, vigilance, toxic 2
Corrupted — At the beginning of your end step, each opponent who has three or more poison counters exiles the top card of their library face down. You may look at and play those cards for as long as they remain exiled, and you may spend mana as though it were mana of any color to cast those spells.

I’m thinking of making a [[!
Bruna, Light of Alabaster]] deck. What are some cool cards I should put into it?
The hardest part seems like it would be protecting her until I can get that first swing off to obliterate someone.
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/HS8TYncpoU62N8EvLtHdZA Any help would be appreciated with how to really get the most value out of my color combination while tunnel visioning into getting zoyowa triggers copying and lightly wheeling and sacrifice dealing. I've play tested lightly and have a very altered paper version which i am trying to focus a gameplan with. Thanks!
I'm going to be playing some casual 60 card magic with friend and family over the holiday, but I'll be the one making all the decks, so I realised I can just build whatever I want and match the powerlevel of the decks to that. So this is where I'm at with my "dream deck" for 60 card casual, any suggestions? Will also take suggestions for 2 or 3 other decks to build to play against this. Thinking at least a GB deck.
Friends and I are doing a $150 commander challenge. Rules are, 4 colors or less, not including basic lands, and must have a theme/gimmick to it. What would be the most powerful deck to build? Winner is getting 4 collectors boxes.
what kind of "gimmick" are we talking? The best budget decks for 150 are imo kinnan, winota and tivit. You could do "all creatues" winota if that counts as a gimmick? Or I guess kinnan could have some sorts of themes/gimmicks, like "sea monsters" kinnan is probably still fine, but it all depends how restrictive the theme-restriction is.
It has to be something more than just goodstuff. We agreed on having a deck that fits/plays into one of the themes on EDH rec.
I'd do tivit artifacts then. Include oswald, whir of invention, fabricate and reshape to find time-sieve and just do a kind of controlly artifact build other than that with lots of mana rocks and a few counterspells + some removal, including boardwipes. damn is just like 2$ and I also like Path of Peril, out of time and languish for budget wipes.
oh, and a thing I did in budget tivit that I loved is playing artifact lands, so oswald can fetch sol ring, then next turn you use sol ring to play tivit, then sac sol ring for time sieve
Decided to build golgari value with [[shadowheart]] and [[master chef]], need to know if I'm running anything that's just not worth it or am missing stuff which is a staple in these kinds of decks.

Legendary Enchantment — Background
Commander creatures you own have "This creature enters the battlefield with an additional +1/+1 counter on it" and "Other creatures you control enter the battlefield with an additional +1/+1 counter on them."
You never thought "rations" was an appropriate term for the feasts you prepare for your party.
I need to slim down this deck and cut 15 cards. I was wondering if I could get some suggestions and general thoughts of the deck

i know you need to cut cards but since hes getting a reprint soon have you considered adding bruvac?
If he drops low enough, yeah I would
i always suck at cutting cards especially if i think i havent got enough cards doing a similar thing to what i want to cut
Trimmed my list down to 100 cards, any suggestions or thoughts before I do play tests?

Outta curiosity, do y'all recommend Ixhel or Vishgraz as a poison commander? Or they're two different styles to say which is better
I recommend not playing Poison
Ixhel is at least like, interesting and incentives you to do something besides stacking every poison counter on just one player
Vishgraz is pretty much just stack and swing
Unfortunately it's this and Eldrazi Unbound are the only two precons I currently own

Eldrazi I think may be better to work on, if your deck is just dedicated Poison you're gonna get really hard targeted and that's never fun
Yeah I'm working on making a lot of commander decks from scratch but currently those are the only two fully legal ones I own
And they both get demolished at my LGS
You're playing lightningrod decks lol
Lol some people have infinite mana eldrazi decks, zur the enchanter and Kaalia decks
Yeah if you are playing a precon you'll have a rough time against most decks, you are definitely gonna have a bad time playing against those
Yeah that's why I kinda don't mind doing Poison cause they'd all be equal threats if I upgrade I feel(I could be completely wrong)
Uh, I played Kwain. I didn't build him right. I like your list. Makes me want to try Kwain again
I don't have any recommendations for you
Sorry I'm new to magic. Only played for a year
Oh I dig this deck

Hi guys! Can I get feedback on my Velociramp update? https://www.moxfield.com/decks/-4sHqRDodEed-PNscxHVKA
I love that commander. It's so cool
need to cut 7 cards 🙏🏾
https://manabox.app/decks/2eNf9QOXRIyX1SqFXzhdsg
I have cyber controler deck ,but i try to play it in budget , you have some ideas for the decks ? I like I saw you add more snap effefct, that was something i just found out a few days ago
I added that so I can recast my commander as easily as possible. Also why I'm running several cards that increase my ramp faster.
Fun fact if you didn't notice. The creatures it creates are just facedown creatures. With the right blink effects and other flip card synergies, you can flip them back over under your control
oh yea ! steal creatures is a little tricky, but the value can be awesome
someties i think i am playing ramp typal LOL
You already have the creature just by paying X on the commanders cost. All you need to do is flip it over
Ixidor can flip them over and since they are just facedown creatures, he'll also give them a +1/+1 power boost
yea !
Keep a small bounce package for your commander, preferably a way to do it each turn. A small blink package for the facedown creatures, and then whatever else you want to support your deck
ok
There are alot of cards from Neon Dynasty that have a reduced cost based on the number of Arrifacts. Could use some of those
Looking for a fun commander. I have a lot of serious decks, looking into something that does silly things or has silly combos that don't auto win the game.
Find a weird ability you haven't built around and build it. My weird fun decks are [[Karn, Silver Golem]] and Hellbent. Neither of them have a visible wincon and I have to hope my opponents can do enough to each other that I can sneak in a win. The decks are also unique enough that most people are interested in how they play
Thats what I was thinking too! Something silly like a theft deck or a deck that blows myself up too
I made an Anex deck that uses all those elementals that sacrifice themselves at the end of the turn. It's stupid and low power, but I enjoy it
My Karn deck. It was the first commander deck that I built from scratch
https://www.archidekt.com/decks/5198407/the_brave_little_toaster
Karn, Silver Golem - Commander / EDH deck
Artifacts
(1) Commander • (45) Artifact • (15) Creature • (34) Land • (4) Planeswalker • (1) Sorcery
The Brave Little Toaster just wanted to be loved and make toast, but Eldrazi, Elder Dragons, and Phyrexians are making it very hard to do.
This is a simple Karn deck whose main focus is turning my art...
like [[Disruption Protocol]] ?
if you ask me , I tink the deck need more early game them jsut mana rocks, I was thinking and stuff like [[Sai, Master Thopterist]]
[[Reality Heist]] is a very cool one, but cut it because it miss a lot, that was at first , maybe the card dont do that anymore
Instant
This spell costs
less to cast for each artifact you control.
Look at the top seven cards of your library. You may reveal up to two artifact cards from among them and put them into your hand. Put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.
Kaito grabbed the chip, hoping it held answers.
[[Assassin's Ink]] maybe ? ask for artifact and enchantment
It can definitely use good early game pieces.
yea, dont sure, I still thinking how run this deck, like, you want cast you commander for x=5, but something you need the tempo early, i like the idea, like, you need to know when cast you commander depending of the board state
I'm trying it as ramp out and cast my commander as early as possible. Seeing if I can't bounce him often to recast none stop
It's not the best strategy, but it lines up with the idiocy that is my playstyle
I like the list and am honestly stealing it wholesale and swapping out a few pieces for like, pet cards it seems really fun
I see , is don't bad idea anyway. in badget sadly you don't have access to a lot, so maybe I check out what can be cut of the list, I feel like the big ramp cards can't
btw did you consider [[Cranial Plating]] in the list ?
Would be a good card to knock a player out with
[[Time Sieve]] would also be a strong puck for the deck
Time Sieve is a awesome dumb cards
how good is [[Realmbreaker, the Invasion Tree]] really ? isn't too slow ?
Legendary Artifact
,
: Target opponent mills three cards. Put a land card from their graveyard onto the battlefield tapped under your control. It gains "If this land would leave the battlefield, exile it instead of putting it anywhere else."
,
, Sacrifice Realmbreaker, the Invasion Tree: Search your library for any number of Praetor cards, put them onto the battlefield, then shuffle.
I put it in my list. Pay 2, tap and take a land that was already mulled by the commander
My list if you're interested
https://www.archidekt.com/decks/5881864/cyber_zombies
I see , was testing the list a few times, and i feel the more important cards are the ramps ones
sadly in my playgroup i cant play urza
but yea I feel like is better try to ramp hard
I only added Urza because I already own one. Most expensive cards that are in my lists are there cause I already own it. I hate spending a lot of money on a single card
Urza is a very good card in the deck still, i can change for other
You list helo me a lot @summer roost trank you so much
No problem. I like showing off my decks.
This list is still very new and changing and probably will change more as I play it
It does have a few fun cards that don't really add to the actual gameplan of the deck
Still, is a good list
Thank you
I'm making this new deck, main idea is discouraging attacks with taxes and using planeswalkers to build a big board
Are there any good synergies I'm missing?

Anyone have a decent Abaddon deck list?
If you find one, let me know. He is so broad I have no idea what to do with him
Will do, I was thinking the same thing, the lists I have seen are all Grixis good stuff and it's uncreative
Maybe you could add this.
Ooh very on-theme too
A nice Anthem effect and a great token generation effect
That is very uncreative. I understand needing some good stuff but thise decks do tend to get boring after a while
Well.... with the chaos of Abaddon it could keep things interesting
I was thinking maybe a ping deck that focuses onto his cascade... maybe I'll try and cook!
The pingers are either easy part
thoughts on this? https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/6083142#paper I need help cutting the cost down to 250 USD and replacing unnecessary cards.
What are the top 5 board wipes in Rakdos and why? I have 4 meta, and 2 thematic board wipes in a deck and can't make final decision.
Slowly updating my decks and adding them to archidekt to make it easier to update, track and share my lists.
If anyone is interested in looking. I don't think this deck will be seeing any updates for a while
https://www.archidekt.com/decks/6268606/plague_of_the_gods
I lied. I found a card that fits the deck perfectly that just came out [[Spitting Dilophosaurus]]
Is [[oracles vault]] a card you've gotten a lot of use out of?
Artifact
,
: Exile the top card of your library. Until end of turn, you may play that card. Put a brick counter on Oracle's Vault.
: Exile the top card of your library. Until end of turn, you may play that card without paying its mana cost. Activate only if there are three or more brick counters on Oracle's Vault.
Every game I have played it, it throws me so far ahead. Especially once you get the brick counters on it. Early game it's a bit of a risk, but once it's free each turn, it puts in some work
Just make sure to wait to play your land for turn
If you have proliferate or are a permanent heavy deck it can be worth the mana and time investment to get it going
Damn that's good to know I'll give it a shot
I've never seen it before
It is a pet card of mine for a good reason
Cool combo I think I discovered by accident with [[Marath]] . While testing my deck I had [[Wiltleaf liege]] and [[Devoted Druid]] all on board which gave infinite mana. Then played Marath using lands, had Lightning's equiped to Marath and used its X Ability to get game. If I am right this works like the Walking Balista/Mikaeus loop, as long as I always have mana and a counter.
Legendary Creature — Elemental Beast
Marath, Will of the Wild enters the battlefield with a number of +1/+1 counters on it equal to the amount of mana spent to cast it.
, Remove X +1/+1 counters from Marath: Choose one —
• Put X +1/+1 counters on target creature. X can't be 0.
• Marath deals X damage to any target. X can't be 0.
• Create an X/X green Elemental creature token. X can't be 0.
0/0
Do y'all think the 8x8 or some format of that is good for deck building commander decks before fine tuning them?
The heck is that?
You take your commander, do 35 lands, then make 8 categories(ramp, removal, etc) and fill each category with 8 cards to make 64 cards
That honestly should work. I never realized thats what I unintentionally do when deck building.
That is a good way to start and keep things organized
This was my first ever precon and i havent done much to it beyond a couple of upgrades. Any obvious inclusions i should add to make this a bit better? Thanks in advanced 😁💜
Tbh faldorn is really solid on her own without any upgrades, I'd just strongly suggest [[passionate archeologist]] for constant ping and I'd maybe lean you into some of the wolf anthem effects or guys who do cool things with wolves like [[master of the wild hunt]], [[nightpack ambusher]], and [[wrens pack huntmaster]] although idk if you want to lose exile effect spots for them, deathtouch one seems p good even tho you don't got an elf I don't think
Creature — Human Shaman
At the beginning of your upkeep, create a 2/2 green Wolf creature token.
: Tap all untapped Wolf creatures you control. Each Wolf tapped this way deals damage equal to its power to target creature. That creature deals damage equal to its power divided as its controller chooses among any number of those Wolves.
3/3
Creature — Wolf
Flash
Other Wolves and Werewolves you control get +1/+1.
At the beginning of your end step, if you didn't cast a spell this turn, create a 2/2 green Wolf creature token.
A strong leader means a growing pack.
4/4
No card found for “wrens pack huntmaster”
[[Wrens run packmaster]]
Creature — Elf Warrior
Champion an Elf (When this creature enters the battlefield, sacrifice it unless you exile another Elf you control. When this creature leaves the battlefield, that card returns to the battlefield.)

: Create a 2/2 green Wolf creature token.
Wolves you control have deathtouch.
5/5
Yeah she sure is a great commander and performs quite well on her own. Master of the wild hunt seems like a great inclusions tho 👀 thanks for the tips
I would recommend taking [[Ruxa]] out. There are better options for making tokens hit harder that can boost your entire board as well
Legendary Creature — Bear Druid
Whenever Ruxa, Patient Professor enters the battlefield or attacks, return target creature card with no abilities from your graveyard to your hand.
Creatures you control with no abilities get +1/+1.
For each creature you control with no abilities, you may have that creature assign its combat damage as though it weren't blocked.
4/4
A good Exile card [[You Find Some Prisoners]] can destroy an annoying artifact or steal something good from an opponent.
I also don't see [[wrenns resolve]]
Fantastic card
hello, can merfolk precon be upgraded to match power level 7-8 at my local LGS. I am new to magic but my group has all veteran players. They have high power level decks so I don't want to be a headache and make them switch decks when i come to play. Most of them don't have precons or something at my level so I figured I can make few changes. If that doesn't work, do I have to build a new deck with new commander etc? how would I go on the upgrade process? what cards are to change and what new cards would I buy? Is there a pre made moxfield list I can follow? I have seen $50 precon upgrade but not sure how relevant that is (if any of you have a moxfield list to post, I can follow that, very much appreciated)
Could I get some feedback for a question about the lands and ramp for my Lord of the Nazgûl deck?

Great suggestion thanks @prime iron @summer roost 👌😁
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/kRXpD35tvESXeF64wJPwiQ
Thoughts? Gruul haste value.
how many hydras does a hydra deck need on average?
It depends what's the commander
[[Zaxara]] doesn't actually need too many if you just wanna go big x spells
i'm running [[Hamza]]
right now i'm thinking about 13 since it's sorta the payoff for having an already wide board
Oooooh that's new i like that, 13 seems alright but unless the other creatures are essential I might push you to put in more
alrighty. i can probably make some cuts then
i should grab the list
So I'm gonna be making a new commander deck(don't have any cards picked out beyond potential commanders). The two I'm thinking of are either [[Rafiq of the Many]], or [[Tolsimir Wolfblood]]. Rafiq is cheaper and adds in Blue to make it Bant, but Tolsimir while more expensive and just Selesnya. I'm also not sure if Exalted from Rafiq gives a good enough mechanic to any creatues to build around
Rafiq feels like a voltron commander while tolsimir seems like a go wide kind of commander 👀
I love elves and wolves tho so tolsimir seems cool
The vague idea I had was like I wanted like a LoZ Link stand-in. So elves or knights came to mind
Hmm cool concept. Love me some LoZ
Yeah. Bant and Rafiq fit that. But idk if he'd be much of a threat, vs I'm voltroning something else
I'm having trouble finding an interesting build with [[Rukarumel biologist]]
Legendary Creature — Human Wizard
As Rukarumel, Biologist enters the battlefield, choose a creature type.
Slivers you control and nontoken creatures you control are the chosen type in addition to their other creature types. The same is true for creature spells you control and creature cards you own that aren't on the battlefield.
,
: Create a 1/1 colorless Sliver creature token.
3/3
You could make a really niche creature type commander like Aurochs or Badgers
Who? And who?
Hey, would anyone be interested in helping me make a deck in dms? I can give all the details there so I'm not flooding the channels lmao 😭
I'm a very very big beginner and I wanna make a deck for spelltable after I go to the lgs and buy some stuff :0 I wanna get some help on what I should look for there

This is supposed to be Cedh
I’m usually free most of the time dm me I can probably help you out
Hey guys! Any suggestions for ways to abuse MDFC stuff in a 5 color deck? I know Tetzin is good but im looking for similar effects to that. Commander is Esika of course.
[[Crucible of worlds]] might allow you to cast the spell side of MFDCs from graveyard?
Updated my Merfolk lost with the new cards. I am so glad I already had a deck with all the powerful merfolk. The new set really spiked their value.
https://www.archidekt.com/decks/6340791/happy_tappy_mers
Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca - Commander / EDH deck
Merfolk • Tap/Untap
(1) Commander • (7) Artifact • (33) Creature • (6) Enchantment • (10) Instant • (36) Land • (1) Planeswalker • (6) Sorcery
Tap some mers, draw some cards, tap some mers, draw some cards. Wash, rinse, repeat.
This deck is all about tapping as many merfolk as possible for valu...
Don’t think so. MDFCs are only their front side in any other zone but when you cast them(you can switch in your hand). So playing the land front yes, but that doesn’t mean casting the back. Also means the MDFC spell front/Land back are just spells and unaffected by crucible
Gotcha, I knew casting was different, wasn’t sure if it was a Lier with Adventures type of case thanks for clarifying!
Would anyone bewilling to give me feedback on my Zacama deck? https://www.moxfield.com/decks/CeutFgpaHE-azBI8P70TmQ
How many lands would you put in a monogreen deck focusing on lots of ramp into mana doublers to play ginormous X cost hydras?
oh uh probably not much less than a normal deck honestly
the only stuff i wouldnt put a good number of lands in (to me 33-37) is like, an elfball deck or smth you already got stuff tapping for mana that isnt lands
also depends on how much ramp you run of course
Trying to make a budget modern deck
I usually play commander and this isn’t going to be my main format
But I still want a deck that I can hold on own with
Not trying to spend alot of money bc I’m married (and value said marriage)
Here js what I have so far. Feel free to critique it and roast me
Creatures:
3x sleeper agent
4x Nether Traitor
3x Prickly Bogart
Instants:
2x Soul Spikes
2x Dash Hopes
3x Feed the swarm
Sorceries:
4x sign in blood
4x Sovereign’s Bite
4x Fruit of Tizerus
4x Syphon Life
4x Vicious Rumors
Enchantments:
3x Okina Reckoner Raid
18 swamps
2 Castle Loctwain
Don’t plan on a side board initially. But I’ll get one eventually
Theme is mono black burn btw.
I respond to pings
Put green omnath as the commander
My current iteration
It's jank af and I mostly choose cards based on what I think would be funny instead of strong
But I made silly stuff like 40 40/40 hydras a couple of times
One game I got over 1500 green mana before I died because I had no card draw to spend it on lol
You can play the land side of MDFC but you cannot cast the spell side
i’d probably take out reliquary tower instead
it doesn’t look like you have enough card draw to really need it
and emeria’s call can be a plains if you need
Is [(umezawa's jitte]] good in commander? It's iconic but Idk how much of that is commander
Anyone up to maybe help me make the last 2 cuts to my Brago superfriends list? There's a thread a few posts down with the link
It's aight, in the right deck it offers a decent amount of utility
Any one willing to give feedback on this deck and if anything in the sideboard needs to swap in for the 99?
So I’ve upgraded the virtue and valor precon but there are three more cards that I want to add but aren’t sure on what to cut:
[[path to exile]] [[spectral grasp]] and [[setessan training]]
It’s very much a buff up [[calix, guided by fate]] voltron deck.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Legendary Enchantment Creature — Human Druid
Constellation — Whenever Calix, Guided by Fate or another enchantment enters the battlefield under your control, put a +1/+1 counter on target creature.
Whenever Calix or an enchanted creature you control deals combat damage to a player, you may create a token that's a copy of a nonlegendary enchantment you control. Do this only once each turn.
2/2
can someone offer me an alternative to [[god's willing]] that can hit creatures I don't control?
[[sheltering light]]
This is a good recommendation but I meant to specify color protection
yea idk if there’s anything like that tbh
[[bather in light]] all I can find from other recommendations
[[stave off]] should be what you are looking for
Anyone want to give me a hand with this list: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/ZueGeRcweEaS5RQdzayxcQ
Has anyone ever gotten chat gpt to build a legal list
Just now:
Building a legal Modern deck in Magic: The Gathering (MTG) centered around the milling strategy can be both challenging and fun. Milling refers to putting cards from an opponent's library into their graveyard, thus depleting their resources and leading to a potential win if they can't draw any cards. Here's a sample decklist focusing on this strategy:
Deck Name: Modern Mill
Creatures (12)
4x Hedron Crab
4x Ruin Crab
4x Vantress Gargoyle
Sorceries (8)
4x Breaking // Entering (only Breaking will be used)
4x Glimpse the Unthinkable
Instants (12)
4x Archive Trap
4x Visions of Beyond
4x Drown in the Loch
Artifacts (4)
4x Mesmeric Orb
Enchantments (4)
4x Fraying Sanity
Lands (20)
4x Polluted Delta
4x Watery Grave
3x Field of Ruin
6x Island
3x Swamp
Sideboard (15)
2x Surgical Extraction
2x Crypt Incursion
2x Extirpate
3x Ashiok, Dream Render
3x Echoing Truth
3x Dismember
Lol that's wild, i gave it a json list of rules for the format and it kept miscalculating the lands.
Are you doing it through their web UI or through API calls and perhaps using their functions calls?
Web ui, I’m lazy and haven’t payed for API access. Just provided it raw text json, and corrected it for about 20 minutes. It could not learn from repeated instructions. It got color identity, curve, Typalness, total amount of cards. Nothing would get it out of this land list lol. It saw command beacon got into the list and was satisfied with making its user happy. Gave up on like the 100th attempt.
I tried to make a [[Haakon, Stromgald Scourge]] deck and didn’t want to manually type in mono black knights lol.
I’ll look into API access, being able to properly handle input would be nice.
i play an azorius spirit commander (millicent restless revenant). i have opened 6 jumpstart 2022 packs and got these decks: raid, gross, eldrazi, think again, scrying and law. what good cards are in these you think and what do you think i should use from these?
Now that I got Icon of Ancestry and Vanquisher's Banner and Herald's Horn from the pirate precon
I wonder if I could also slot those on the Spirit precon from Crimson vow
That deck already makes lots of spirit tokens
Buffing them further sounds nutty
could someone please help me change this deck a bit? im changing it from mazirek to grist and im not sure what to drop now that its a bit less counter heavy
yes please do! personally, if it was me, i would focus on making non token spirits because tehy're the ones buffed by millicent, but those cards are very good, because you do control lots of one type of creature (those are cards i wish i could afoord)
Could some maybe look over my two decks. I´ve got some new and old cards in my Sideboards wich might be usefull to add.

This or ash barrens
I've only played magic for a year. I don't like either but if I have to. I'd run evolving wilds. You can crack it immediately. The other land you need to wait a turn to fix your colors
In general I don't like tapped lands unless they can do something special like +1/+1 counters or tap for any color like Jetmir Garden
Thanks
ash barrens probably
I mean it kinda depends on the deck I guess
If you're playing a budget Landfall deck that you probably wnat evolving wilds
Ash barrens as a whole is a lot more flexible, because you can also just play it as an untapped land when you need to
They both have their pros and cons I guess
Like say you need to fetch a blue source. Evolving Wilds can fetch an Island but you can't use it that turn. Ash Barrens can fetch one and lets you play it immediately, provided you haven't played a land yet
In terms of speed, if you decide to fetch a land with ash barrens, they're pretty equal, but the fact that you can also just play ash barrens untapped imo gives it a bit of an edge
hey, sorry if this is the wrong place, but where can I get deck checks or something similar? I'm wanting some help optimising a deck of mine
I need to cut two cards on my budget Lord Xander list. Can you please help me?

Any feedback before I buy the rest of this deck that didn’t come in the precon: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/gUEHphezCEiH_4hSYo0Xyw
So last match with the Pirate deck it went well, but it killed people slowly and it made the match unenjoyable for the table, mostly because the deck has no trample or good evasion outside menace and some fliers.
So I thought about adding some evasion spells like [[Taigam's Strike]] and tappers like [[Sleep]] and [[Icy Blast]] so the pirates can get through. Maybe buff a [[Port Razer]] with Taigam's and Angrath's Marauders along with the typal anthems.
Creature — Orc Pirate
Whenever Port Razer deals combat damage to a player, untap each creature you control. After this combat phase, there is an additional combat phase.
Port Razer can't attack a player it has already attacked this turn.
"Smash and grab, loot and burn, then it is the next town's turn!"
4/4
Or just have a full swing after a full tapping
If only to make the killing go faster
Would that work?
https://www.mtggoldfish.com/archetype/commander-gandalf-the-white#paper
Thoughts on this deck’s power level? It seems pretty optimized apart from some expensive mana rocks and lands.
Wanna know because I want to join more optimized games instead of precon level, so I’m eyeing to buy this on card kingdom
I'm silently brewing an Urza control deck, but I have no idea how to build an Urza deck other than mono-blue goodstuff. I need help ditching things so I can get down to 100. From a control standpoint, I really like having a lot of counterspells and enchantments like Propaganda and Back to Basics, but then that leaves less room for my artifacts and artifact creatures. I look forward to optimizing this build soon.

so im building an osgir deck and im wondering if i should put in 12 pieces of ramp, the average cmc is 2.73 so its really low to the ground. i know osgir gets nuts with mana rocks but if i have nothing to spend that mana on it doesnt seem worth running 12
Just finished building a big back deck, any input would be appreciated

Any mono-black players here who are really good with brewing? Would love some feedback on a deck thats performing pretty well but I want to optimize it
can some people help me out with cuts? theres so many cards i love but idk what to get rid of
whats the deck list?
ill be real man i cannot read that 😭

Honestly, run more fetchlands, those are kind of the bread and butter of landfall decks
They're especially great with all all the effects that let you play lands from your graveyard
With Azusa and Ramunap on the board, a fetchland represents 6 landfall triggers
quick! someone remove one card
I am building a Pauper EDH Selesnya deck, can any one tell me why [[Crowd-Control Warden]] is not legal?
My commander is [[Kutzil, Malamet Exemplar]]
A pauper deck or a commander deck? Or am I being dumb here
It’s legal in all version though
oh I think I figured it out. Moxfield is saying that it is not legal in Pauper EDH, but that might just be b/c it is from a very new set.
lol no problem
I wanna make [[Gandalf of the Secret Fire]] as a storm deck, but I never play jeskai or storm, I am not sure, know many discount effect you want in the deck, I try to use [[Elsha of the Infinite]] has a guide not sure if I am just missing the point, any storm players here ?
Legendary Creature — Avatar Wizard
Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell from your hand during an opponent's turn, exile that card with three time counters on it instead of putting it into your graveyard as it resolves. Then if the exiled card doesn't have suspend, it gains suspend. (At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a time counter from that card. When the last is removed, you may play it without paying its mana cost.)
3/4
Legendary Creature — Djinn Monk
Prowess (Whenever you cast a noncreature spell, this creature gets +1/+1 until end of turn.)
You may look at the top card of your library any time.
You may cast noncreature spells from the top of your library. If you cast a spell this way, you may cast it as though it had flash.
3/3
a lot of standard legal cards in this
you could probably find some better cards than the ones you run for this outside of standard
So I’ve been wanting to make an [[Obeka, Chronologist]] deck for a while, but with [[The Master Multiplied]] existing instead would it be worth to use them instead? For a while I wanted my Obeka deck to be thievery, but a lot of the cards are at end of turn and not end step so i can use them. I was thinking instead to do myriad midrange but I don’t know if the master multiplied is more powerful for that? Obeka does have very strong things like cheaper extra turns like [[Final Fortune]] however, what do y’all think?
It depends on what payoffs you're trying to run. Obeka can be built in many different ways. if your goal is to run mostly Myriad and Flameshadow Conjuring type stuff, then Master multiplied might be a better choice. If you want to do other end the turn shenanigans, then stick with Obeka
Alright!
anyone wanna help me cut some cards?
Has anyone built and upgraded the professors krark and kydele deck?
Looking for some suggestions
Is there a blue spell that I can cast to rescue all of my creatures by returning them to my hand? I’m tinkering on a Temur deck. (The same one.)
It is a little… thin, but it is getting there.
[[Part the Veil]]
Thanks!
No problem!
Cool! Would love to see it when you're finished.
Will do!

Thoughts on this budget raiyuu deck?
Honestly? One of the coolest decks I’ve ever seen!
The flavor is immaculate. And it looks strong!
You actually just inspired me to try and make my own samurai deck. Bless you 🙏
Hey all, I'm looking for cards like [[hexavus]] or [[raving dead]]
Cards with low power that have cool effects or enter with a lot of + 1 counters
So what’s gonna be a wincon for Delney? Am I hoping to overwhelm people with little guys?
Ive been dying to make a mono white deck that can hold its own.
I don’t have [[Moonshaker Cavalry]]
I mean there’s always Akroma’s Will
Question for the big brain deck makers:
I run a modified version of the red/green precon deck from Neon Dynasty, the one who’s commander is Chishro, shattered blade. I modified it so it’s more focused on getting +1/+1 counters. Would it be worth it/funny to run a blood moon to troll my play group? I’ve got an anime wilds of Eldraine blood Moon I’m itching to use
Feel free to ping me if you have an answer. Thank you. :)
I'm not a fan of Blood Moon. It's a Stax piece in my opinion. But if you're not running duel lands, even the ones that enter tapped, then run it. But make sure you tell you're pod that it's in the deck so that they can mentally prepare or choose a deck that might have less duel lands. Or if you can win when you play it is also good
Gotcha! I run a lot of dual lands as well, so it sounds like I’d be shooting myself in the foot.
It's a great card in mono red, but yeah, if you run duel lands even the ones that enter tapped like cinder glade, then you are shooting yourself in the foot and making yourself a huge target.
I'd you want to run Blood Moon, it's way better in mono-red, but does make you a huge target
Gotcha! This is fantastic help, thank you!
I was interested in the revenant recon precon, but when I've been goldfishing I feel like it doesn't have enough ways to start filling your graveyard. Does anyone have any good additions for that in dimir?
Also there's quite a few times where I have something in my hand that I want in the graveyard, would some looters be good in the deck to handle that?
I finally got to 100 cards in my Delney list. Now— I know there’s plenty of cards other Delney players are running that probably aren’t in here.. in which case it’s because I don’t have them haha. But let me know what you guys think.

I prepared Sophia Deck but as usual I want to put to many cards, only 18 in sideboard so far 😄, so I looking for opinion
Sophia, Dogged Detective - Commander / EDH deck
(1) Commander • (1) Anthem • (1) Artifact • (1) Blink • (1) Copy • (8) Counters • (6) Creature • (13) Draw • (1) Enchantment • (3) Finisher • (2) Instant • (33) Land • (3) Protection • (12) Ramp • (1) Recursion • (6) Removal • (1) Sorcery • (7) Tokens
Should I focus on copying artifact creatures or just making a bunch of random artifact tokens
What power level would you say this would be at?
Otherwise, what suggestions would you recommend on including or taking out of this deck?
Are there any wincons in monogreen for lifegain or milling? Trying to see if you can do anything besides voltron with ((Strong, the Brutish Thespian)) since he's not in golgari
I put [[nesting grounds]] in to move the finality counters on opponent's creatures. I also cut thought vessel and reliquary tower because in a deck like this it would be useful to be able to discard big creatures, so the hand size limit can be a positive. To go with this, I added [[Jin-Gitaxias, core augur]] so I can refill my hand and get some stuff into my graveyard.
I have this aristocrat deck that seems pretty strong when goldfishing, but I haven't played this kind of deck before. Anything I'm missing? I know phyrexian altar is really good but I don't know if I can afford it rn, but it's on my radar

I need to find a replacement for 1 copy of Hearse cause i cannot find a second copy in time
why are you running Farsight Ritual?
i feel like Memory Deluge serves the same function much better
lol fair
i think i went too far. i got too invested in making a deck for [[anzrag, the quake-mole]] after i pulled my 2nd copy. now i gotta focus on cuts. Please help me cut things

I'm building sovereign okinec ahau as a commander. I put him together with what ever I had last night. It actually performed and got him to a 150/150 in a 7 game. So many ways you can go with this. Just trying to figure out what's most optimal
Still lost but got 2nd
you played a 7 person game?
i feel like that is not a good indicator of a decks performance
Good card
I've got a Golgari Aristocrats deck im working on and right now I'm struggling with cuts. I've never played in these colors before so I'm not sure where to start

Cloakwood Hermit & Sivriss, Nightmare Speaker - Commander / EDH deck
(2) Commander • (10) Card Draw • (1) Finishers • (36) Land • (3) Protection • (11) Ramp • (4) Recycling • (11) Removal • (15) Synergy 1 (Squirrels) • (7) Synergy 2 (Sac outlets) • (11) Synergy 3 (Payoff) • (4) Synergy 4 (Grave stuff)
Built a deck around the leaked leonardo da vinci. Tried pulling some of the most impactful artifacts for the deck but still feel that it is a work in progress would be great to hear any suggestions. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/30NijavYFkO0kEDl_HrFKA
- Mycotyrant feels pretty medium without more consistent self-mill or discard.
- Prized statue probably isn't impactful enough if it's only there to be sac fodder without much other synergy.
- Stitch together probably isn't as good as you think it is in this list. There's very few 5+ drops to make it good in the late game and not enough ways to ensure threshold is online in the early game.
- Compy swarm has always seen like a mediocre card to me if you're not dino tribal. The tension of wanting to use them as sac fodder vs not using them because of exponential scaling (though the scaling is really slow and you're often times better using a scute swarm) feels wrong to me.
- Hate to recommend cards when you're trying to find cuts, but I think the list would benefit from untap shenanigans like Sting, Glinting Dagger or Thornbite Staff to allow you to "storm off" with your tokens.
Happy to have a longer conversation if you want to make a unique post for the list.

Looking for help on this deck. I’m working with all I got right now, but in the future what upgrades should I make? Thanks for any help y’all 🙏
Built the new Judith, just need to cut some cards, any recommendations would be appreciated, also any cards that I should add but haven’t 👍
Attempting to build a Naya token deck (I know Jetmir is a better commander I just don't want to scare people)
Any suggestions are much appreciated
Changed the direction of Judith quite a bit, now looking more at the imps because after it being mentioned quite a few times I realised, board wipe tribal isn't really fun to play against, and now I need to do some heavy cutting, Trying to get the wipe count to around 6 but not sure which ones to remove.

Trying to run a sacrifice and reanimate deck with sengir the dark baron and Tormod as partners. I posted a thread but thought I'd drop it here for extra eyes. Is there anything I'm missing, Mana base, card draw, or synergy in general? I have a couple ideas for cuts so just some adds would be good 🙂

I made a new deck with Belbe, Corrupted observer because of the new Emrakul and I would like some advice on If I should rune more protection or not and some good card draw options since i only have two consistent card draw pieces with guardian project and up the beanstalk but sometimes lose speed with the deck. this is the upgraded version as well and I do have a cheaper upgrade version but I'm only adding in Emrakul the world anew since I have most of the cards in the deck. Hey! Anyone have suggestions for cards that give you stuff when you are being targetted or affected by stuff? I saw a bunch of cards that get me stuff for being attacked, and wonder if I can make a Tanking deck lol
Built this deck with what I had lying around last night, can't really remember the process but after goldfishing it a bit, fever dream me was kinda cooking, what do you guys think, it's a myriad etb type thing that swing at face with [[Duke Ulder Ravengard]] at the helm
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/UFh98u9aZ0-tEBEvMfzimg
Legendary Creature — Human Noble Soldier
At the beginning of combat on your turn, another target creature you control gains haste and myriad until end of turn. (Whenever it attacks, for each opponent other than defending player, you may create a token that's a copy of that creature that's tapped and attacking that player or a planeswalker they control. Exile the tokens at end of combat.)

I've found a bunch of new stuff in my collection to add but aren't sure what to cut, any help?

what do you think?
well, it's not gonna hold a candle to any modern deck played in the meta.
No card found for “Ojer Axonil, The Deepest Might”
I put together a mono red burn deck using [[Ojer Axonil, Deepest Might]] , while looking at other peoples decks they are using snow-covered mountains, but none of there cards interact with snow-covered lands from what I'm seeing. Am I missing something, or just dense?
Legendary Creature — God
Trample
If a red source you control would deal an amount of noncombat damage less than Ojer Axonil's power to an opponent, that source deals damage equal to Ojer Axonil's power instead.
When Ojer Axonil dies, return it to the battlefield tapped and transformed under its owner's control.
4/4
Temple of Power
Land
(Transforms from Ojer Axonil, Deepest Might.)
: Add
.

,
: Transform Temple of Power. Activate only if red sources you controlled dealt 4 or more noncombat damage this turn and only as a sorcery.
Chimil gave the Oltec passion. Ojer Axonil challenged them to harness it.
There is a card in there that exiles a land IE snow covered Mountain then every permanent with the same name exiled under the card taps for double. Believe it's an artifact
[[Extraplanar Lens]]
Nice thanks
Anyone have a good partner to go with [[heart of krosa]] ? Maybe one color combo that lets infinite Mana to have an army of lands ?
Legendary Creature — Human Druid
At the beginning of combat on your turn, creatures you control get +3/+3 and gain trample until end of turn.

: Until end of turn, target land you control becomes a 1/1 Elemental creature with vigilance, indestructible, and haste. It's still a land.
Partner (You can have two commanders if both have partner.)

Anyone have reccomendations for simply the biggest artifact creatures there are, at a low cmc? Downsides don’t matter, I just want the biggest of metal bois at the smallest of prices.

Simic Sky Swallower, Scourge of Fleets
Thank ya
Anyone know fun mono white commanders to run? Any of the not top 5. Wanting something different than [[myrel]] as I'm going to disassemble my deck of her for the Caesar commander deck
How do i make my post visible with like a picture and so on? when i try to link my decks from moxfield my text just gets to a uggly link with nothing else... ? xD
What is the objective with commander in terms of deckbuilding? My friend built his first commander deck and it’s definitely scary but gets countered pretty hard by one or two removals or board wipes. That also Being said I want to try and build from ground up as well but I’m not sure what to balance my deck around
You like a mechanic in magic? Find a commander and build around it. Like a creature type? Build a commander around it. It's honestly just a creative format to let you express yourself and play decks and cards you want to. Weather it be jank and fun or competitive and fine tuned, there's something for everyone
perfect example - I love the mythical creature, the phoenix. I want to make a commander deck with that type in mind. It isn't super powerful BUT I found a way to make it work and it's one of my favorite decks to play. Sometimes it goes off, sometimes I sit and do nothing but I'm having fun - https://www.moxfield.com/decks/AX92oVYxckemGw7KDDQ4ew
I'm working on my first sacrifice deck for edh. It's going to be BGR, I'm going for either prossh, ziatora, or korvold.
As I understand it, there's two ways of running this type of deck, as control or "midrange".
I've decided to go for control, and I'm having a hard time selecting payoffs. I know you generally use grave pact and dictate of erebos....
But are there any others I should be looking out for? I'm shooting to have at least ten permanents that serve as sacrifice payoffs.
Don't know if it would count as control, but Agent of the Iron Throne and Mayhem Devil could work.
Does anyone know fast initiative decks?
Sefris tends to be one of the more efficient dungeon venture commanders
I recently acquired an [[Old Stickfingers]] . are they a decent commander? or better in the 99?
Legendary Creature — Horror
When you cast this spell, reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal X creature cards. Put all creature cards revealed this way into your graveyard, then put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.
Old Stickfingers's power and toughness are each equal to the number of creature cards in your graveyard.
*/*
If I’m running a restriction goad deck (wars toll, winter orb, smoke, ghostly prison)
What should be my wincon if any. i do run plargg/agusta to allow me to untap whatever I please
I feel he's better in the 99 unless you have a deck where the commander doest lead it, but instead helps to power it up once it gets going
Nice, Thanks!
My wife wants to build a mono blue Merfolks deck but I have little experience with blue and no experience with Merfolks. Any good deck recommendations I could check out to get some ideas?
Mono blue merfolks is hard, I like hakbal because explore everything
I havent seen a lot of merfolk decks before, but i have noticed that simic seems to be the color pair that works the best with that type
Could I get a pair of eyes on this deck? I'm not super used to burn decks and am relying on edhrec for much of this
Do y’all think this seems pretty balanced for a casual deck?
I think it works but you should get more card draw
In my mazzy I run [[season of growth]] and [[tanglespan lookout]]
Oak of the ancient wood seems kinda iffy
Tale for the ages seems like a win-more in mazzy too imo
Thank you for the recommendations 🙏 and yeah I had those cards laying around so I threw them in to fill spots. Notes taken for sure
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/c1xa2e6ekEO99no9RJ9AAA
Release the inner Timmy and as such forgot how to count, big ramp leads to big creatures is the theme of this deck, any and all recommendations for cuts would be greatly appreciated
What is the best way to discover more cards besides having them@played on me
Edhrec.com has lots and lots of cards and tells you how popular they are from each other, it also has a random feature if you just wanna see something new
Oops
Just need some help on a few cards to cut for Codsworth, enlightened tutor and Divine visitation or remove them all if the cards wouldn't be good for this deck but pretty sure he is. The theme is Living Weapons with a splash of token generation to bolster defences https://www.moxfield.com/decks/au68S81w1kqlS7J-4XCbiQ
are there any mono-green cards that are warstorm surge-esque?
None to my knowledge. Best bet is to look up the Oracle text on scryfall
Just checked myself, less I typed it in wrong there's zero in green. Direct damage stuff like war storms usually only in red
Alright thanks!
hello, do you have any idea how to build around [[slogurk, the overslime]]?
[[slogurk, the overslime]]
Legendary Creature — Ooze
Trample
Whenever a land card is put into your graveyard from anywhere, put a +1/+1 counter on Slogurk, the Overslime.
Remove three +1/+1 counters from Slogurk: Return it to its owner's hand.
When Slogurk leaves the battlefield, return up to three target land cards from your graveyard to your hand.
3/3
Play a bunch of self-mill and bounce effects to get slogurk back to your hand, have some landfall payoffs ready
Alternatively, play a lot of fetchlands and land sac
there are really good land sac ramps you can use
Legendary Creature — Vampire Soldier
Flying
Whenever a player sacrifices a permanent, put a +1/+1 counter on Carmen, Cruel Skymarcher and you gain 1 life.
Whenever Carmen attacks, return up to one target permanent card with mana value less than or equal to Carmen's power from your graveyard to the battlefield.
2/2
Thoughts on my mostly on theme Mr House deck?

Can I run [[struggle for project purity]] in a Millicent tribal or are there better draw options.
Enchantment
As Struggle for Project Purity enters the battlefield, choose Brotherhood or Enclave.
• Brotherhood — At the beginning of your upkeep, each opponent draws a card. You draw a card for each card drawn this way.
• Enclave — Whenever a player attacks you with one or more creatures, that player gets twice that many rad counters.
I mean you "can" run it in Millicent, sure. But I do think there's better draw. Blue has tons of card draw
what card draw are you already running?
Winged words, distant melody, Bident of thassa, Gerald horn, ethereal investigatr, bigone bishop
And herald horn and distant melody
I only have budget for four pounds a card
Max
[[$coastal piracry]]
$3.82 • €2.92
$5.12 • €2.81 • 0.02 TIX
$22.59
$3.84 • €2.50 • 0.04 TIX
Nice
Thanks
I’ll get both this and struggle. Rhystic too much and I don’t think there’s much other options
Unless they’re just one time use
Is preordain fine you think or is it underpowered
You're just playing casual edh right
Cuz it's a very solid card normally
ytes power level 8 i wanan get to
Idk what numbers mean lol
Just play the fun cards you want
Every person in this server would point at something different for an 8
as in good enough to beat precons and slightly upgraded decks ,but not crazy competitive
Preordain on its own isn't really awfully impressive, especially not as a draw source. It is generally played in decks with a storm or instant/sorcery theme
it's a cheap spell that digs decently deep and replaces itself. It's great when your deck is built around casting multiple small spells during your turn, but if you're just adding it to dig, then I'd rather run a card that draws more cards
Makes sense
Yeah I’d probably rather play coastal and struggle then. The good thing about struggle is that it just give you three more cards each turn , cause the opponents drawing isn’t a may trigger
It’s a forced trigger which I think makes it busted
Anyone know good Boros cards that are straight Vikings not just from kaldheim? Wanting to dona viking equipment deck with the new [[eivor]] from the assassin's creed set
so you wana run blood-forge battle axe with that for sure
as well as brass knuckles
[[bloodforged battle-axe]]
[[forge anew]]
Enchantment
When Forge Anew enters the battlefield, return target Equipment card from your graveyard to the battlefield.
As long as it's your turn, you may activate equip abilities any time you could cast an instant.
You may pay
rather than pay the equip cost of the first equip ability you activate during each of your turns.
I said viking cards as in creatures lol
Yeah you're gonna be limited to kaldheim and what, ice age?
They weren't vikings but there's probably some creatures that fit the vibe
That works too. It's more so just a fun deck to pay homage to my family. I'm like 53% Scandinavian so figured this be a fun way to honor it
https://www.archidekt.com/decks/7078693/simic_test i've built something like this. Do you see any commander to go with it?
Commander / EDH deck
(2) Creature • (15) Draw • (1) Enchantment • (1) Evasion • (1) Finisher • (37) Land • (1) Landfall • (4) Protection • (21) Ramp • (10) Removal • (3) Tokens • (1) Tutor • (1) Untap
Given how many late game options you have, you probably want a commander that can speed up your mana like Arixmetheses or even [[Troyan, gutsy explorer]]. Those 6+ drops get even better when they arrive two turns early! Troyan may have the added advantage of appearing unassuming as well..?
I need the deck help.
Trying to build a [[Safana, Calimport Cutthroat]] [[Imoen, Mystic Trickster]], either or, goal is just fast initiative turn around, fast dungeon turn around, stuck with what background to use
Legendary Creature — Human Rogue Wizard
Ward
(Whenever this creature becomes the target of a spell or ability an opponent controls, counter it unless that player pays
.)
At the beginning of your end step, if you have the initiative, draw a card. Draw another card if you've completed a dungeon.
Choose a Background (You can have a Background as a second commander.)
2/3
I imagine Safana + Dungeon Delver would work well? You'd be in UB then which has plenty of evasive creatures. Or you could go Imoen + Far Wanderer to be in WU and flicker the initiative creatures. (I guess you could also go Safana + Far Wanderer and use graveyard recursion with initiative creatures as a third option?)
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/c1xa2e6ekEO99no9RJ9AAA
Built a deck that's timmy big stuff and need to make the last 5 cuts but am stuck in analysis paralysis.
I've been stuck on this for about a week and haven't made any progress. any and all help will be much appreciated.
Trying to decide on a new Rakdos commander. One of the newer ones. Judith and Rowan I’ve seen a few times, wondering if anyone has any other suggestions? Including the actual new Rakdos.
I'd strongly suggest if you wanna play something very silly to give [[magar of thr magic strings]] a shot, I've gotten 12 games in and he plays a lil different every time and makes some very very stupid games
Legendary Creature — Minotaur Performer

: Note the name of target instant or sorcery card in your graveyard and put it onto the battlefield face down. It's a 3/3 creature with "Whenever this creature deals combat damage to a player, you may create a copy of the card with the noted name. You may cast the copy without paying its mana cost" and "If this creature would leave the battlefield, exile it instead of putting it anywhere else."
3/3
Spellslinger stupidity
Oh I know him. He’s a regular in my main play group.
My current Rakdos commander is [[Hidetsugu, Devouring Chaos]] - it’s fun but a very fragile clock. I used to play [[Mogis, God of Slaughter]] cause I love group slug stuff. Just looking for something newer along those lines (there seem to be a lot of legendaries that are better in the 99 than as commanders)
The new Rakdos looks GREAT. But kinda stumped where to begin. Like writers block.
Well you could run group slug and have a ton of politic effects, "you can either let me draw a card or take 3" type stuff, not too sire how to build that in rakdos, I mostly stick to the other pairings
If I post a deck list anyone mind giving me their opinion no what power level it is?

building a SekiroSoulsBorne deck where i gotta use as much of the bosses as possible. I need help with what bosses can be what cards, and how i can make this deck Function and not just be a funny bad deck
How consistent does this deck seem?
I cant speak for consistency as I havent seen it in action, but it definitely looks like a very synergistic deck that in theory should be very consistent.
Thank you 🙏 I’m playing it for the first time next Thursday so I’m hoping it does well.
Of course. Btw that is a very creative Commander

If I were to make a commander with [[empress galina]] would it still be edh or be more cedh leaning, and would it be "fun" to play against
I've once again brought my Viking themed [[Eivor]] deck down to 100 and would love some critique. The theme is Vikings and Equipment like cards but splashes of consistency and generally good cards. Any and all suggestions will be taken
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/yAUUOzvZ7UKqKrxxoHxIYg
I don't think Galina really makes for a great cedh commander. There may be some wacky combo where you make everything legendary and gain control of everything, but compared to what broken stuff is already played in cedh, Galina doesn't really hold a candle to that.
"Is it fun to play against" is subjective. A general sentiment among most casual players is that having stuff stolen is "unfun" when it happens repeatedly. So having a commander which screams "I can steal your commanders whenever I want" will probably make you a high target from the get go, even if Galina is relatively slow.
Does anyone have play experience with the "More than you Yargled For" deck?
It looks really fun, but does it actually work? Or is it mostly just a one-trick-frog-spirit?
Describe it? I had a yargle deck that was a mix of zombie tribal and equipment
Was the OG mono black one
But changed it into my Post Son of Rich deck
Also zombie tribal
Uh, interesting.
Also, sorry! It's this one 🙂 From profs "build your own precon"-video.

Following a point that salubrious snail made in a video about too complicated decks: this has a simple and transparent gameplan, but still with some tricks to back up the big violent frog.
Would still like a response to this
First of all— the flavor of this deck is immaculate. Great job on that, I love it. Secondly, I’m not an expert deckbuilder so I can’t offer much in the ways of recommendation, but from what I can see the synergy is great and it looks like it has a solid plan.
@prime iron
Thank you, dragon decks can be tricky to make actually Play well, I guess that's all i can do that's left
what vehicle commander would work well if I wanted to alter and make a deck around Formula 1 / Racing cars?
[[Greasefang]]?
oh yeah i could see it
Plus it takes a cool spin on it
You like dwarves?
potentially
[[Depala, pilot examplar]]
Legendary Creature — Dwarf Pilot
Other Dwarves you control get +1/+1.
Each Vehicle you control gets +1/+1 as long as it's a creature.
Whenever Depala, Pilot Exemplar becomes tapped, you may pay
. If you do, reveal the top X cards of your library, put all Dwarf and Vehicle cards from among them into your hand, then put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.
3/3
She likes vehicles and dwarves and that's all
wow
magda would go crazy in that deck
tap dwarves to crew, those make treasures. Sac those treasures to tutor for any vehicle you want
Doesn't magda only tutor for dragons?
yup
she busted
I have her in [[Mr house]] so I can tutor for cards like [[alibou, ancient]] or [[cybermen squad]]
Legendary Artifact Creature — Human
Whenever you roll a 4 or higher, create a 3/3 colorless Robot artifact creature token. If you rolled 6 or higher, instead create that token and a Treasure token.
,
: Roll a six-sided die plus an additional six-sided die for each mana from Treasures spent to activate this ability.
0/4
Artifact Creature — Cyberman
Nonlegendary artifact creatures you control have myriad. (Whenever a creature with myriad attacks, for each opponent other than defending player, you may create a token that's a copy of that creature that's tapped and attacking that player or a planeswalker they control. Exile the tokens at end of combat.)
5/5
not using her for the dwarf stuff, but using the treasure tutor to find specific cards and even getting some value out of it
I been debating using Magda as my mono red commander. Never could figure out the best balance of dwarfs and dragons. I was thinking maybe 7 or so of the best ones than the rest being dwarfs
Ive seen mono red vehicle decks with magda. Tap dwarves to crew the vehicles, and then those make treasures. Treasures could be sacced with madga to search for better vehicles. If you are stuck with good vehicles in your hand and dont want to tutor through magda, the treasures are there for you to ramp into those pricy vehicles in hand
another helpful tip for decks like this; you can over-crew vehicles. If a vehicle says "crew 2" that means that you need to tap creatures with power equal to OR GREATER than the crew value. This is put in place to avoid issues like only having 3 power creatures but a vehicle with crew 2 and not being able to crew it. This also means that you can tap as many dwarves as you like in order to crew vehicles. if you have 5 dwarves and 1 vehicle, you can tap all of them to crew that one vehicle even if it has a low crew cost.
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/rIgV6Mreh02pUPVvJIlWvw do you have any thoughts on this deck? What cards to cut and add to make it better?
I plan on doing greasefang for my vehicle deck but Magda be fun too honestly
Recommendations for that before I go to Edhrec? Like have any dragons in it or focus on artifacts? A few dragons like terror of the peaks probably be good
depends how crazy into the theme you want to go. with magda its possible to sprinkle in good dragons that just do well on their own, but adding vehicles to tutor for means that they can also tap dwarves to get more treasures from magda
dragons that make treasures or make use of treasures/dwarves would probably be my only suggestion
terror of the peaks, goldspan dragon, cavern hoard dragon
that kinda stuff
I would include [[maskwood nexus]] in it because that means that your vehicles also become dwarves when they get crewed and if you are tapping them to attack with them, thats even more treasure
same thing with dragons in that case as well
A cool detail I take advantage of is that both magda, and the treasures she sacs for her ability dont need to be untapped for them to work. you can tap magda to crew, and you can tap treasures using cards like [[clock of omens]] to tap treasures to get additional value out of them before you sacrifice them to magda
[[crime novelist]] is a great card in any treasure deck
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/W3Qfys6DVE6BdztzBTNVbw Looking for any good suggestions for a Zangief fight deck. Trying to not break the bank and also make it somewhat funny.
Anything wrong/can do better with this? https://www.moxfield.com/decks/qDT0npkqD0-BPj_Yrk_jUg
I'm looking for a full on Mario party experience for a deck. Something that just makes gameplay unexpected, anarchic, and gives everyone something new and unexpected to do.
This is what I have so far. I have line item vetoed Descent Into Avernus. What other goofy, fun for the whole table cards should I get for this Naya deck? https://archidekt.com/decks/6064583
Rocco, Street Chef - Commander / EDH deck
(1) Commander • (1) Creature • (12) Draw • (40) Land • (1) Planeswalker • (1) Proliferate • (4) Protection • (2) Pump • (15) Ramp • (1) Recursion • (10) Removal • (10) Tokens • (2) Tutor
Getting infinite combos, typically with Jinnie Fae and Prosperous Partnership + some token doubler.
Additionally,...
Share the spoils and Blinkmoth Urn come to mind not only as cards that include the whole table but that rocco benefits from really well.
Duelists Heritage is a fun combat encourager that can also get pretty funny with a large rocco/Other stuff from your 1/1 counters
I'm much more interested in getting things that enable other people to play more things from exile, because that's a lot of positive mechanical intercation that my deck with this commander would take advantage of.
So Blinkmoth Urn is in the right direction!
Eladimir's Vinyard as well I suppose.
But putting in more table-wide mana boosting effects is less useful if I only have Share the Spoils and Rocco giving people extra free cards to play from exile.
Are there any other cards I can put in to get effects similar to Share the Spoils?
Not just screwing with the the draw step and putting THAT into exile, but giving the players additional cards to play each turn.
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/kvUqnClVL0iDqxLmKIQO4A
Need to cut 7, just some [[Ghave, Guru of Spores]] good stuff
I'm also interested in any spells that allow other players to make decisions, or take game actions that are beneficial for me, or possible beneficial for me. I really like the offering and technique spells, for example.
need to come up with some good interaction/answer cards for my skeletons, but not sure what's a good ratio of answers to engine.
Let me know if there’s anything I need to change. Leaning more into the detective theme with a lot of extra clue synergies. I also want the deck to survive without the commander on the field, since it’s such a target for removal.
is there a rule for how often one can post about a particular deck? I posted about my skeletons yesterday, but barely had an idea what direction I wanted to take it. I finally put together an actual build, and edited the post, but I'm wondering if I should just make a fresh post or not?
I got a dumb idea I wanna do. Mono white group hug with [[yes man]] as the commander. I need ideas as I've never done a Group hug deck before
Legendary Artifact Creature — Robot
: Target opponent gains control of Yes Man, Personal Securitron. When they do, you draw two cards and put a quest counter on Yes Man. Activate only during your turn.
Wild Card — When Yes Man leaves the battlefield, its owner creates a tapped 1/1 white Soldier creature token for each quest counter on it.
2/2
I actually have a rough draft but need a lot of cuts https://www.moxfield.com/decks/-O1-0trYSkK4Y-OR4F6aYg
You should include [[benevolent offering]] and [[call the coppercoats]].
Mono white really hems in the group hung shenanigans and chaos tho. The best ones for that kind of gameplay are red.
Already in the decm
Sorry I can't go to it atm, at work. Wierdly they let me use discord but web access is limited.
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/I7RZxP2VbUCIzk78KCzz4Q what do you think about this, should i add more white cards?
would [[helm of the host]] be any good in [[caesar, legions emperor]]
Legendary Creature — Human Soldier
Whenever you attack, you may sacrifice another creature. When you do, choose two —
• Create two 1/1 red and white Soldier creature tokens with haste that are tapped and attacking.
• You draw a card and you lose 1 life.
• Caesar, Legion's Emperor deals damage equal to the number of creature tokens you control to target opponent.
4/4
It seems like it but you would also need to be able to keep track of all the triggers
a bit hard to answer without further knowledge of the deck.
Imo, helm of the host is a bit of a trap card. It's a very cool and flashy effect but also relatively expensive to operate. If you have the mana to easily drop this and equip it the same turn, it might be alright depending on what you put it on.
I often see people drop Helm of the Host on the board but then not have enough mana to attach it, and then it or the creature they then move to attach it to get blown up before it gets to do anything
Mono white good stuff with humans and some food tokens.
Sword of wealth and power in sovereign okinec ahau commander deck. Doubling pump spells.
is there a rule regarding decklists for unreleased commanders? can you already make threads or do you have to wait for the actual release?
Planning on building my fourth commander deck now and the Commander is Shorikai. Any tips and advice on how to build it would be greatly appreciated because this is the first time I’m going for a token/artifact/vehicle strategy.
What do you guys think about [[obeka, splitter]] with [[the tenth doctor]]
No card found for “obela, splitter”
Legendary Creature — Time Lord Doctor
Allons-y! — Whenever you attack, exile cards from the top of your library until you exile a nonland card. Put three time counters on it. If it doesn't have suspend, it gains suspend.
Timey-Wimey —
: Time travel three times. Activate only as a sorcery. (For each suspended card you own and each permanent you control with a time counter on it, you may add or remove a time counter. Then do it two more times.)
3/5
[[obeka,splitter of seconds]]
She should be pretty fun with a suspend theme
What are some good cards I can use to get the most value for the boast ability in Boros?
Been enjoying pauper lately. Heres a rakdos deck with the gleeful grenadier
Does anyone have any pointers for someone building their first mono black deck? Budget recommendations for the most part, please lol
The commander I have in mind is [[Chainer, Dementia Master]]
Legendary Creature — Human Minion
All Nightmares get +1/+1.

, Pay 3 life: Put target creature card from a graveyard onto the battlefield under your control. That creature is black and is a Nightmare in addition to its other creature types.
When Chainer, Dementia Master leaves the battlefield, exile all Nightmares.
3/3
Mono black loves to feed into itself get the basic stuff that's in everything but green like solemn simulacrum and wayfarer bauble, then [[crypt ghast]] [[Cabal coffers]] [[Cabal coffers]] [[dark rit]] [[Cabal ritual]]
You might wanna get some stuff that mills your opponents for chainer
I am thinking about removing most planeswalkers from my xavier sal deck and going towards Sagas since they dont get hated out of the game as fast. Here is the list https://www.moxfield.com/decks/AhvTu7rtHECRAxv1HxHgnw happy to hear some input
Been working on this for the longest time
it always wins in 10-12 turns in my testing but I wanna speed the progress
I've been running less lands but I think that's not the issue
am I running too much of something?
There was actually a game where I was close to winning but I didn't have something since my hand was empty
really need help pls this deck is important to me
quick deckbuilding companion rules question, I was checking out EDHREC for a deck, and even though I have the theme marked as a companion, it still suggests the same companion in the 99.
If you have a companion, can you have the same card in your 99 still, even in EDH?
no, "You cannot have a creature be both a companion and exist separately in your deck as either the commander or one of the 99"
So is [[Rocco, Cabaretti Caterer]] often the host of a secret commander?
Legendary Creature — Elf Druid
When Rocco, Cabaretti Caterer enters the battlefield, if you cast it, you may search your library for a creature card with mana value X or less, put it onto the battlefield, then shuffle.
They wouldn't admit it, but some people join the Cabaretti just for the food.
3/1
Oh yeah my buddy has one for [[norn the wary]] for a "mono red" blink deck
It's really just norn with red stuff and then a few white blink spells and some green ramp
I really want to make this high power midrange control deck but I also want there to be a a slight token them with the best creaters in the deck. I need some help on cutting choices and if u have better recommendations for adds that would help to https://www.moxfield.com/decks/dnueseEU_UKApFvQ6cnV_w
Legendary Creature — Human Shaman
,
: Create a 0/1 green Egg creature token with defender.
Whenever an Egg you control dies, reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a creature card. Put that card onto the battlefield and the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.
2/3
Creature — Shapeshifter
Changeling (This card is every creature type.)
Champion a creature (When this enters the battlefield, sacrifice it unless you exile another creature you control. When this leaves the battlefield, that card returns to the battlefield.)
Lifelink (Damage dealt by this creature also causes you to gain that much life.)

Sorry, I realized wrong channel, should be in format focus commander.
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/VCmtizXcz0OM1EE1rKKL7g
Grist commander Umori Comp, I'm trying to mill multiple insects per turn, focus is on grist and going for quantity of bugs more than quality, I really really wanna turn 2 grist despite not having many lands so I've got 6 mana dorks in the deck. Should I cut any more lands or should I cut some of the few non-bugs to add more bugs?
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/FtdF7ZU69UifV6-sRHO6SQ
My first attempt at an aristocrat type build with [[Kels, Fight Fixer]] at the helm. Any and all feedback would be appreciated.
The main goal of the deck is to get as many [[blood artist]] type effects on the field as possible then loop creatures that can come back from the graveyard such as [[Nether Traitor]] and [[Reassembling Skeleton]] to get card draw and to draw into more value pieces such as [[Jadar, Ghoulcaller of Nephalia]] or [[Ophiomancer]] to consistently make tokens that I can sac.
To control the board I've added cards like [[Butcher of Malakir]] and [[Grave Pact]]
I'm thinking of adding more targeted removal though as it is lacking as well as a board wipe so any suggestions for one in dimir colouring would be amazing.
One of my absolute favourite decks ever - GRUUL Urza and just so consistent and resilient
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/1Tnlnqz570qXouYGa8En3w
Weird question, but I'm new to the game, and haven't played so much yet.
Is it a good strategy to build around a commander combo that takes up 5-7 tutors and around 8 (redundant/overlapping) win condition/combo cards, and have the rest deck do something completely different in order to stay under the radar and not be a threat?
Example, I'm currently looking at [[Obeka, Splitter of Seconds]]. Let's say I found a win condition with [[Court of Embereth]], and all I need for it to work is one (or maybe two, depending on the situation) of 8 other cards that I've found (and of course, my commander has to be on the battlefield, without summoning sickness, and she needs to be able to attack someone).
If I build a deck with all the suggested cards from EDHREC and YouTube, I feel like I'm making my self a target right away. Those recommendations involve a lot of janky and potentially awesome (but not always reliable) things to happen during my upkeep. Venture into dungeons. Create a bunch of 5/5 dragons. Draw a bunch of cards. Drain life. Mill your opponents. But none of those cards really win you the game. And they make you a target.
What if the deck didn't have those suggested cards at all. During your game, nobody will spot any "at the beginning of your upkeep" cards on the table, they see no threat. You're playing another type of deck with other types of synergies that does not involve your commander being a target at all.
Then, hopefully, with enough tutors and card advantage, you get your win condition/combo with the janky "at the beginning of your upkeep". Until now, you have done no upkeep shenanigans.
The problem I guess, is that the rest of the 85% of the deck would just be about grinding out your opponents, lots of interaction, lots of counter spells, lots of removal, some casual friendly pseudo-stax, but no real way of winning. 85% of the deck would just be there to keep you alive until you get win condition.
And I understand that there are better ways to make a deck that just grinds until you find a better easier winning combo. But I like the jankyness of this one 😆 And it's not important which commander or combo we are talking about. I'm mostly asking about the strategy of building a deck where 80+% of the deck is not in direct synergy with your commander or win condition, it's just there to grind and give you cards and interact with others in a consistent and reliable way. 15%-20% of the deck is sort of sneaky, and deceptive, and will not reveal it self until you can make it work 🤔
Enchantment
Creature tokens you control have "
: Add one mana of any color."
Whenever one or more creature cards leave your graveyard, create a 0/1 green Plant creature token, then put a +1/+1 counter on each Plant you control.
The roots of Vitu-Ghazi allowed Trostani to reach every crack and crevice in the city.
I'd really like to brew a deck but once I start I get bored and never finish. Do you have some advice for me?
how do i build a deck Bottom to Top?
I first made this decklist 5 years ago with the premiere of the Guild Battle episode of Game Knights (Josh's first time playing Boros). The true commanders are Judith, Carnage Connoisseur and Firesong and Sunspeaker. I think I've been able to update/upgrade it so I can finally build it on paper. All suggestions are welcome. https://archidekt.com/decks/7293954/mardu_spellslingers
That's a fine way to build a deck. The higher up in power you go, the more of your deck is built around tons of removal surrounding a couple ultra efficient "engine" pieces. I will point out that the "surprise" of your strategy will only work so many times before people catch on and start just hating you out of the game even when you don't appear threatening (I'm all to familiar with this hahahah) because they aren't sure if you have the win yet or not and they'd rather not chance it.
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/Dtv85Af92keirH7XjeieOA
Mono red is hard and I’m struggling. It’s meant to be a voltron deck with a lot of stealing people’s creatures. Any help is appreciated lol
Choose a handful of cards that you definitely want to play and then design the rest of the deck around making those cards as optimal as possible. Maybe that means finding ways to minimizing your average mana cost if you're building around [[dance with calamity]] or something like that.
So is it then possible to build a deck around the 5 main Theros gods?
Or atleast 2 of them but not as your commander
like putting in Nylea and Thassa into one deck
yeah, totally possible. You'd likely want ways to ensure you can find them
So i'd need Tutors. So gotta include Black into the deck so i got access to as many as needed
Green has good creature tutors, white has good enchantment tutors, blue can draw cards like no one else. You're not forced into black
Three aspects of colors i didnt know about
So, Thassa, Nylea and Heliod.
Which heliod do i use though? Cause theres the normal one and the Compleated version
and also the Revisited Theros Gods
I can't really answer that for you, that's all preference
so as i have now decided, im gonna use Nylea Keen Eyed, Thassa god of te sea and Heliod sun crowned
Those seem like the best for the purposes of godly powers
For reference, the chance you draw one of three gods after drawing 20 cards is 51.10%, but that number jumps up to 76.68% with 3 tutors which feels very doable.
so i should have the deck separated into Thirds right? like one third does Nylea stuff, the other does Thassa stuff and the other does Heliod stuff
and then sprinkle generically good cards to boost its overall power
That would make thematic sense, but you'd likely end up with a deck that doesn't do much when put all together. There would be a high chance you draw pieces from each strategy that wouldn't harmonize very well.
It's usually better to design around one central theme like "enchantments" and then sprinkle in a few cards for flavor for each of the three
They are enchantment creatures thats true.. But what can i do with enchantments except Voltron?
so i can make a pillowfort, control the board/accumulate resources, and ramp myself.
Hmm.
so now quick question: Which tutors do you reccomend for me to run?
And card draw in general
so , buy the new izzet deck and my heart scream i need to win with [[Thousand-Year Storm]], and i feel like the new [[Stella Lee, Wild Card]] will be very Combo Heavy, it is my best option just play [[Veyran, Voice of Duality]] ?
Legendary Creature — Efreet Wizard
Magecraft — Whenever you cast or copy an instant or sorcery spell, Veyran, Voice of Duality gets +1/+1 until end of turn.
If you casting or copying an instant or sorcery spell causes a triggered ability of a permanent you control to trigger, that ability triggers an additional time.
2/2
Legendary Creature — Human Rogue
Whenever you cast your second spell each turn, exile the top card of your library. Until the end of your next turn, you may play that card.
: Copy target instant or sorcery spell you control. You may choose new targets for the copy. Activate only if you've cast three or more spells this turn.
2/4
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/_pVVSN5ySkGmVBp6lSIElg
Upgrading a decklist that I haven't visited for a while, [[Karlach]] is at the helm with [[Hady Outlander]] as the background.
The main aim for this deck is to swing in at face and hopefully end up with infinite extra combats.
Any recommendations on what to cut from this or what to add?
Legendary Creature — Tiefling Barbarian
Whenever you attack, if it's the first combat phase of the turn, untap all attacking creatures. They gain first strike until end of turn. After this phase, there is an additional combat phase.
Choose a Background (You can have a Background as a second commander.)
5/4
Legendary Enchantment — Background
Commander creatures you own have "Whenever this creature attacks a player, if no opponent has more life than that player, another target creature you control gets +X/+X until end of turn, where X is this creature's power."
You're a born explorer, happiest forging your way through the untamed wilds.
How often has Dolmen Gate been useful? I imagine that large creatures + first strike means you rarely care about blockers anyways.
It's mostly there for a fail safe, because at my lgs quite a few people have commanders that have 6+ toughness or deathtouch/indestructable so it's there for those kind of situations
.
Could you solve the same problem with a more versatile card like [[renegade tactics]]? Niche cards meant for a specific situation can be powerful, but they're totally dead draws if your opponents aren't blocking anyways. Being able to cycle the niche card away can make the deck play smoother.
And first strike probably handles the deathtouchers anyways?
Deathtouch with indestructable, I should'be been more clear, my bad
Someone critique my deck?
I don't really get the point of arcus acolyte as it's just slow and there are better cards with effects that have creatures etb with counters instead, Land tax really isn't worth it in green, the only way this is good is if you have that as the only piece of ramp in hand, other than that it's just a dead draw, instead of kodama's reach I would recommend natures lore or three visits (realistically you want to be running both) so that you can search for Lush portfolio or canopy vista, Wild defiance is just bad unless you're focussing on combat tricks but you're only running 11 by my count and for it to be worth it you want to be running at least 20 on the low end.
This is just on a first glance but other than that it seems solid.
Som things I'd recommend to add are [[Arwen, weaver of hope]], [[champion of lambholt]], [[fertilid]], [[mirri, weatherlight duelist]]
[[Tuskguard captain]] and [[court of garrenbrig]]
Enchantment
When Court of Garenbrig enters the battlefield, you become the monarch.
At the beginning of your upkeep, distribute two +1/+1 counters among up to two target creatures. Then if you're the monarch, double the number of +1/+1 counters on each creature you control.
[[Defiler of vigor]]
Creature — Phyrexian Wurm
Trample
As an additional cost to cast green permanent spells, you may pay 2 life. Those spells cost
less to cast if you paid life this way. This effect reduces only the amount of green mana you pay.
Whenever you cast a green permanent spell, put a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control.
6/6
From my experience playing green +1/+1 counter decks these are in almost all of the ones I've built with some exceptions due to budget restrictions but other than that they make these kind of decks much more consistent.
Also [[Tributary Instructor]] makes the deck a lot more resilient to board wipes as it allows you to refill your hand so you don't run out of gas
Creature — Merfolk Shaman
Mentor (Whenever this creature attacks, put a +1/+1 counter on target attacking creature with lesser power.)
Whenever a creature you control with a +1/+1 counter on it dies, draw a card.
"Like water between rivers, wisdom must flow freely from one generation to the next."
4/4
Would you be willing to help with cuts?
I have champion of lambholt
And mirri
Miri
So arcus I'll dump for champion
wild defiance, ajani caller of the pride, luminarch aspirant, mikaeus the luminarch, case of the trampled garden
As long as the creature count is 25% or higher it's pretty much an auto include I'd say
I'd say it would definitely be worth it, but if you're going to start adding tutors you may as well go the whole 9 yards and add [[worldly tutor]] [[natural order]] and [[eldritch evolution]] just to make it that much more consistent
Sorcery
As an additional cost to cast this spell, sacrifice a creature.
Search your library for a creature card with mana value X or less, where X is 2 plus the sacrificed creature's mana value. Put that card onto the battlefield, then shuffle. Exile Eldritch Evolution.
Also [[sylvan tutor]]
Something that I also should've added earlier is [[kalonian hydra]] swing, stack the triggers so that soverigns goes off first, kalonian becomes an 8/8 then have kalonian go off and it becomes a 16/16 trampler
not too shabby if I say so myself
.

. If you do, each opponent loses 1 life and you gain that much life.)
