I usually have a strict code whenever I'm trading. It's to double check the item before i accept it to make sure it's not a counterfeit. One thing i make sure is how they're willing to overpay for an item.
Plus I don't really interact with anyone that much in the game, so it's quite easy for me to extinguish the behavior of the players :p. Just make sure you're not dealing with anyone that has a history of anything illegal,

Focus when dealing with sellers/buyers, make sure you choose the right seller/buyer. If you're sleepy, don't force yourself to buy/sell goods When you're sleepy, remember to double check and don't rush. .

If trading it's easy, all you have to do is double check before accepting and after accepting
If world like buying gems, farms, providers etc. make sure to ask them if they got Growscan usually for gems and providers. As for farms just buy a world that is fully grown so you don't have to worry if it's different seeds or there's a missing seed.
