Multiple ways actually, even on Craftoria you can use pistons and redstone with specific circuits, where you place lets say a button to trigger the mechanism, and then it closes after your passage, collecting the button. Else, you can use Computer Craft and program the blocks to act like doors, changing their appearance ect in item properties.

Computer Craft will not be a easy way, but it's doable and more convenient. I'd still go with old sticky pistons here ^^
