steam os

#

interesting

#

[playing on steam deck?

broken dust
#

Yeah. I'm playing on steam deck atm

#

Mhm

hallow anvil
#

stack smashing detected

#

hm

broken dust
#

Most packs work for me and I've tried to do some troubleshooting already but I can't figure it out

#

Running 8gb of ram

hallow anvil
#

I havent played a lot of mc on my deck actually

broken dust
#

You have a Deck?

hallow anvil
#

ye

broken dust
#

Sick dude!

hallow anvil
#

upgraded it to 1tb internal

broken dust
#

This thing is fantastic for minecraft

#

Vault Hunters runs smooth at 50-60fps

hallow anvil
#

hitman3 via epic games store 60fps somehow too

#

mind boggling

broken dust
#

Yeah I really don't know how they did it

hallow anvil
#

I have no idea whats going on here

broken dust
#

COD MW2 50-60 as well on the right graphics

#

yeah me neither lol....

hallow anvil
#

stack smashing means a variable is overflowing

#

trying to think why that would happen

#

try allocating more RAM?

#

the deck has 16 iirc

#

though shared with the GPU

broken dust
#

yeah let me try 12

#

doesn't this have to do with a memory leak?

hallow anvil
#

I mean it could be?

#

I'm only starting C++ so I only know the basics of memory allocation errors

broken dust
#

Gave it 12, logs are looking close to the same though let me give it a minute

gleaming temple
#

the stack smashing thing i believe is related to the linux LWJGL library thing

broken dust
#

The Stack Smashing pops up the second the window is created

#

oh, is there a way for me to fix it?

#

maybe I could try a different version

gleaming temple
broken dust
#

it says extended amour bars is the culprit

#

I've disabled it, let me see if it'll boot

#

Sounds like a client-side mod too, so hopefully this works

#

Nope... still failed

#

Trying a different LWJGL Version

#

Still Crashed.. and is currently burning

#

lol.

gleaming temple
#

you used a LWJGL version with the fix?

broken dust
#

No, it was running the latest version so I went backwards to 3.2.2 (build 10)

gleaming temple
#

you were running the latest compiled version. you have to compile a version for your system, see the compile instructions and such

#

oh, steam is based on arch so you might be able to pull it from AUR

broken dust
#

I don't know much about this, could you explain it a bit more? I'm sorry

#

Oh I think I get it

#

I need to make a custom one for my setup right? Is that what your saying?

gleaming temple
#

yep

broken dust
#

and is AUR a website?

#

Oh

#

wait 🤦 Arch Linux lol

gleaming temple
broken dust
#

and once this is installed, how do I apply it to AOF6? I'm using prism if that helps

gleaming temple
#

i would try prism's Use System installation of GLFW
under global Settings->Minecraft

#

if that doesnt work, you would have to reference the library .so directly by adding java arguments

#

not sure if going to Versions->LWJGL->Change Version would show it

broken dust
#

I tried to start the building process for glfw-git

#

but I'm missing 4 dependencies

#

I'm sorry I'm still learning linux... not too familiar with it and downloading these dependencies is probably not too difficult I just don't know how...

#

I'm missing cmake, ninja, doxygen, and wayland-protocols

hallow anvil
#

oh boy C/C++

#

i havent set up C++ compilation on linux, just on windows

#

I think you want LLVM or something and clang

broken dust
#

@gleaming temple Is like my lifeline right now... I'm trying to see how to download these missing ones but I guess I'll just have to wait until he shows up again

gleaming temple
#

should be able to use pacman to install them

broken dust
#

This is such a specific problem that googles not helping much

#

I'm sorry explain?

gleaming temple
#

at this point, the "problem" is just "how do i use aur to install X on arch"

broken dust
#

do I just type wakaka in the cmd line

gleaming temple
#

something like that 😛

something like pacman -S cmake...not sure if you need something with the -S, its been a minute since i used it

hallow anvil
#

I have a few archies but idk if theyd be up to help with this

broken dust
#

It said I need to be root

#

but

hallow anvil
#

root on steam deck is complicated

broken dust
#

UGH

gleaming temple
#

cant sudo?

broken dust
#

wait yeah

hallow anvil
#

you dont have the password

gleaming temple
#

lmao

hallow anvil
#

although sudo might work

#

given sudo su supposedly works

broken dust
#

LETS GOOO 1/4 DOWNLOADED

hallow anvil
#

but you also have to take the deck out of read only mode

broken dust
#

Biiiiiitchh (jesse pinkman voice)

hallow anvil
#

its a process

broken dust
#

Ok, I've downloaded all dependencies... and ran makepkg... but I got this error

#

how do I do a embed widow thingy in discord? I forget

gleaming temple
#

#

That works

gleaming temple
#

missing x11, nice

broken dust
#

What in the world does that mean

#

I'm losing my mind

#

I just wanted to play some fabric maaaan

#

I'm determined though, hit me with the next step

gleaming temple
#

how far back did you try for downgrading 😛

#

3.2.1?

broken dust
#

3.2.2

#

but

#

I just hit change version

gleaming temple
#

did you try using the system GLFW yet without all that stuff?

broken dust
#

and changed it back

#

Wdym?

gleaming temple
#

in prismlauncher's settings, checking the box

broken dust
#

umm Under workarounds theres a box that says "Use system installation of GLFW"

gleaming temple
#

yes that

broken dust
#

Is that what you mean?

#

no

#

I didn't try

#

want me to?

gleaming temple
#

might as well try that, just in case we can avoid all of this

#

(might try without sodium and iris too, just in case)

broken dust
#

really? sodium and iris have always worked for me in the past

#

What's wrong with them

#

or well, what WOULD be wrong with them

hallow anvil
#

sodium and iris mess with graphics

gleaming temple
#

not necessarily something wrong but they do ^ yes that

broken dust
#

Btw same problem, Stack Smashing

#

even with box checked

#

same log same everything

hallow anvil
#

optimization mods are often corner cutting mods

#

lol

broken dust
#

disabled sodium and iris

#

trying again

#

without native libraries

#

Same problem, Stack Smashing

#

Whats the missing 11X thing about? is there any way for me to fix that?

#

Yknow what I'm kinda done with this for tonight, but if either of you have a solution feel free to drop it... Thanks for your help thus far though it's been great

#

I'm just gonna hop off

#
