I've been using the barrels from MI, and they kind of grew on me. There are some other storage unit type blocks in TR but I don't think AE2 works well with them.

Agreed, the MI barrels arent bad looking, but being single item only they can’t replace most uses of vanilla barrels.
For me, thats often the input or output of a create or ae2 processing setup (the later for when a single pattern provider wont do)

They are capacious, but not full blocks, and also, iirc, burn extra ticks, as do vanilla chests, when part of a constantly active setup, compared to barrels, iirc.
But really, my main focus is aesthetic variety for “full-block, stores multiple item types”—and right now all we’ve got is the the vanilla barrel, MI’s configurable chest, and docked danks—the later two of which bring more complicated functionality and/or no early game access. Which seems counter to expectations for a kitchen sink mod pack.

We had drawers and other similar single full-block storage options in previous iterations of All of Fabric. Not sure why they're not in AoF6.

Ok, found what I’m looking for in two specific mods. Probably should have done this in the first place. Ill make a new post for suggesting these mods, but here they are for this discussion:
The variants are just that, which is nice.
The Reinforced are the (fabric) barrel equivalent of the Iron Chests mod.
