On further examination, the video signal turns off when Minecraft tries to go to 1080p60 (my usual settings; my desktop runs at 4K normally). If I leave minecraft at 4K, no problem.)

That's normal issue for full screen games when the game changes your resolution. Definitely isn't strictly AOF6 related

Huh. Never seen it in any game before..It’s not that the screen went momentarily black, it’s that the video signal was flat out off. The monitor would say “no signal” and go to sleep unless I intervened.

Anyhow… a reboot resolved it. So chalk it to Windows sucking.
