If I had to guess my logic, this script was made around the time I was making Church of Thunder (Cough) and that's another script that uses a socially flexible and mobile evil team to have those characters without a Grimseer, so I assumed I could get away with a similar trick here??

in TB, if an invest or FT claims you are a minion/demon, you can bluff saint as a convenient last resort, and its able to work because with the existence of grimseers, the possibility of that invest/FT knowing you are the saint is very real, and very troubling (and very brewing). without a grimseer, thats taken away. same applies for VI

Red Herring. sage Sage? The other ping. So, I think it's kinda design agnostic to make a character which just outs people as evil with script context.

To my understanding (Luis can correct) the passing of the Demonhood is a one time event as opposed to a continuous effect

So if the Kukalpa is drunk/poisoned when the initial pass would occur, no pass occurs (or can for the rest of the game), but if the pass has already occured, droison doesn't undo it

In a Crowd of Thousands may at first seem like your average death puzzle, but its many intricacies are only unfolded when the implications are thought of. The script places extreme emphasis on the 'puzzle' aspect of death puzzles, forcing all players to examine the domino effect caused by drunkenness, poisoning and death. Players must read past the baseline truths to understand the true machinations within the game state.

Intermediate. Recommended for players looking for a script where small actions have a heavy impact.

When Playing In a Crowd of Thousands…

Good Players must follow lines of cause & effect to determine their origin, whether that means looking inside their own lines for reason to be drunk or have a kill redirected or examining claims, like a Widow's revelation or the Fetch avoiding death. Disregarding implications of info and who is dying is a fatal mistake.

Evil Players have the ability to entirely disturb good's plans, but must be stealthy as almost all of their actions can be tracked. Even slight mishaps can be tracked and will lead to an eventual loss for evil. Some interactions seen as less viable on other scripts could be the most optimal play, such as a Widow poisoning themself to hide the ping & still give the Pestilence an additional kill.

We Remember The Baron Incident is an expert script where the entire evil team gets to dive into chaos! The good team will be at some of their least trustworthy, and with characters like the Heretic, sometimes knowing the Demon themselves might not be enough to win! Characters can build solid confirmation chains fast, but the Summoner and Kukalpa can maks any player a Demon candidate.

The Revenant (Demon - Experimental Set) – An undead menace that grows stronger when its minions are executed. The first time a minion dies, you gain an additional ability for the rest of the game!
The Howler (Minion - Experimental Set) – A cursed creature that lets out a terrifying wail at night. If you are executed, the first player to vote for you becomes poisoned for the next two nights.
The Veilkeeper (Townsfolk - Phantom Set) – Each dawn, you learn if an evil player spoke last during the previous day’s discussion. Beware of manipulative tongues!

🛠️ Balance Changes 🛠️

The Hollow (Demon) – Now learns a random Townsfolk role at the start of the game instead of a Minion role, making its misinformation more subtle.

New update! Gear score!

I hope you're all ready to feel the thrill of the loot chase, to get invested in yourself and your progression as a BOTC character.

  • each game, the ST will give out a number of gear drops at random to members of the winning team, equal to the number of evil players
  • there are 15 gear slots - sword, shield, dagger, bow, helmet, mask, shirt, undershirt, shoulder, gauntlets, trousers, boots, mug, bedroll, and wife.
  • gear has a "power score". all gear starts at 0, and players can rip up gear to increase the power of another item of the same type by +1
  • at launch, gear score is capped at 20 per piece. however, every two months the official gear score cap will increase by 5. this will encourage players to continue playing and keep the thrill of the loot chase constant!
  • when a player would die, their gear score is compared to the gear score of the person who would kill them.
  • if it is the same, nothing happens.
  • for each gear score the victim has over the killer, there is a 1% chance to resist death.
  • for each gear score an evil killer has over the victim, there is a 1% chance to get an additional kill.
  • for each gear score an evil player has over a townsfolk, there is a 1% chance they may misregister to them
