The politician works as a pseudo-drunk here that the ST can't manipulate; the point is that the poli (and evil players)'s bluffs makes a big impact, since the info of the townsfolks spread in multiple dimensions, and there isn't really any passive bluffs to take. The key is to play active, choose the bluff that creates the most confusion and cuts off the info chain to hide yourself among the town.
