I'd love to be able to resize the mail window so I can view more than 4.33 items at a time in the subject pane.

Fix the mail window overall, so the list doesn't mess up when you do over 100% scaling (required for very high res monitors nowadays), and you can adjust the spacing of subject to body, and the whole mail thing in general....
They're right. Mail needs fix! (Hopefully someone has been poking and prodding at that for a long while since it's not a new fault... and hopefully made progress since it's also not a fixed one...)

UI work in this game is challenging. The majority of the UI interfaces are coded from scratch. Something that sounds like a simple change, often means entirely rewriting that section of code, along with implementing all of the logic to handle any corner cases. Being code dependent also means that we have a smaller pool of developers that could potentially do the work. I'm not saying, "no", but I'm saying probably not soon.
