Don’t have access to a computer for at least a week, but want to get some practice in. Is there a way to get decent audio on my phone?

You can get surprisingly good results from a phone if you know what you're doing.

  • Make sure you're recording in a room that has no echoes, such as a closet full of clothes (this is always true for VO, though a lot of the times people will use things like frames and heavy-duty blankets to modify their space)
  • record using an app where you can turn off the automatic processing on the recording. For iPhone, TwistedWave is good and free; for Android, WavePad or WaveEditor are both good & free.
