I have a Blue Yeti USB Mic on an arm stand with a pop filter and shock mount. I use Logitech Ghub for some audio clean up stuff. I have attached a not exactly 1:1 diagram of my room but every thing that is in it and where I have things situated. No sound panels on the wall or anything. Is what I have good enough to start out, should I upgrade the mic (Really want to avoid this as i'm not doing the best financially but I could make an upgrade work), and should I invest in some sound panels as I don't have the room to make the PVC recording studio with how small the room is. Any insight is greatly appreciated.
#Is my setup good enough for starting out?

I've seen quite a few roles on CCC where they're happy with the quality of the Blue Yeti, which they should be cause its an awesome mic, the thing is that no sound treatment will always make your audio sound, not the best, anyway. One thing you could do, since you say you dont ahve the room for a PVC booth, is you could just get a blanket, and drape it over yourself and the mic, it's not gonna be anywhere near perfect, but I think it may be a good place to start?
Take what i say with a huge grain of salt, though. This is just what I've read and heard during my own research before I decided to suck my bank account clean and upgrade my mic to a AT2020 and build a pvc booth since I have a office room in the bottom of the garden, others of course aren't going to be as fortunate to be able to have that, but there will always be some way that you can make it reach a roles standard.
Maybe you can get something going to earn some money to upgrade to an XLR mic in the end too.
Oh lawdy! Umm... @spiral sorrel.... are you aware that you are now level 4? You're getting closer to... um.....

As facxlxss said, there are people who don't mind the blue yeti, but those are just the people on Casting Call Club. If that's all you're doing, that's fine. But if you plan to audition anywhere else, it's best to get a different mic. And you can get WAY better USB mics that are cheaper than the Blue Yeti. Usually using a USB mic, unless it has a internal gain nob, it's a little more difficult to control louder sounds going into it. I highly recommend any of the Audio Technica USB microphones. The ATR2500x, only being around $50 USD.
As for sound damping/control. While a blanket would help, you'd need a big enough blanket drape over yourself, mic and the monitor with your script. How your desk is set up makes it a little harder due to the open space behind it. I would say if you could is to put a rod on your ceiling that you can drag a sound curtin/moving blanket around your desk to block it off.
Thanks for the insight guys, I do want to upgrade the microphone at some point especially if I stick with this as more than a hobby. Also yeah my desk is very large and has 3 monitors spanning across it so I don’t think draping a blanket over me will work the best.
