Okay so, I don't know about this for sure because I've never tried it but I heard egg crates, blankets, and cardboard is the best for reducing noise both inside and outside, try to seal any cracks in the door like underneath and such.
Also regarding the blankets, make sure to use thick ones like quilts, duvets etc yk and use a lot
Or as many as you can
so put quilts on the doors. what about the egg crates and carboard like on the cracks too?
the only thing is its the walls too
Egg crates on the walls and then blankets over the egg crates to shield the sound
The egg crates harness the sound in each divett so it doesn't bounce back as harshly, the blankets create a barrier between the walls to make your surroundings sound softer, think of the blankets sort of like a pop filter. Also make sure the room isn't too empty cause I'm sure you already know this but when a room is completely empty there's often times echoing
And if you have a window just block it with the cardboard and then blanket
In order to get close to sound isolation you need very thick material on every wall, ceiling and even the floor. You'd also want some form of booth inside of your sound treated room that has its own thick padding. Different types and thickness of material are capable of reducing different sound frequencies so be sure to research that.
Depending on proximity of other people to you it could require some very extreme measures to prevent sound from being perceivable to them.
If we're talking about neighbors across the street it's much easier than in the same building.
I second this ☝️
Two words are the most helpful... Air Seal.
Just put a blanket on top of you and you should be good to go! 👍
