a modular tank tanks up 25 x25 x 26 area, so that would be 16250 pieces of pipe. so just building a area of pipes of equivalent size to a modular tank is 8.125 Million liters stored. and cheaper to Produce.

6way pipeline stores even more. Simpler/cheaper to place 6ways in a cube or other configuration for storage imo.
Currently there's minimal reasons to use storage tanks. Whatever the future use would dictate the size they should be.
