#Gmod crashing upon opening it - Linux

well time to rewrite

Starting since a week ago I've been having issues where gmod appears as open in steam then closes. Tried the following:

  • reinstalling gmod
  • deleting every source game
  • turning off steam cloud
  • disconnecting wifi to not download workshop content
  • running under the wine version
  • running different branches
  • updating the computer
    None of these worked. One time i got an error message stating it cannot open /home/adroz78/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/GarrysMod/garrysmod/bin/client.so. Now the error doesn't even appear. My friend with a similar pc setup and same OS and his gmod works great.
