Jougorou Kobato has a habit of inserting himself into other people's problems. After realizing his detective skills are neither wanted nor appreciated, he makes an agreement with his shy friend Yuki Osanai to become ordinary together. Now entering high school, they aim to be perceived as regular people, yet Kobato cannot help but fall back into his deductive ways when faced with everyday mysteries.
While it has a solid plot, characters and pacing, the main appeal of this anime is its amazing art, which is combined with great direction to offer a really aesthetically pleasant experience. The story ends up revolving around the main characters' machinations or deductions, but leaves plenty of space for character development, small questions of a more philosophical nature, and it still features a really similar energy to any good slice-of-life anime during most scenes. Overall it was one of my favorite animes of this year, and I strongly recommend it!
On a side note, the original light novel was written by Honobu Yonezawa, the author of Hyouka, so u might want to check it out if u liked that one!!
