凪のあすから or also known as 'A Lull In The Sea' is a coming-of-age, fantasy and romance anime! A one season show made in 2013! Sadly, this is the only season and probably will not continue. I genuinely loved this anime so much to the point I had to re-watch it (normally, I would never watch something again after knowing what happens). Although this is from my view, it can always be different to yours! So be sure to check this anime out and give me some feedback on it! I'd love to hear back from those who've seen it.
Nagi no Asukara (or Nagi-Asu for short) takes place in a fantasy world where there exist two different subspecies of humans. In this story, people originally came from the ocean, however over time some people preferred the surface and abandoned living underwater permanently. As a consequence, they were stripped of their god-given protection called "Ena" which allowed them to breathe underwater. Now, ages later, the population has been split completely into land people and sea people, and they generally live quite isolated from each other. The rift between the citizens of the sea and of the surface widened, although contact between the two races still existed.
This story follows the story of 5 childhood friends, who were forced to leave the school in the sea and attend a school on land. Trying to adapt to a life on land is not an easy thing, as they constantly have to keep themselves wet in order to not dry out their Ena; the protective shell given to the sea people by the Sea God, which enables them to live and breathe underwater.
Hikari and his friends' lives are bound to change as they have to deal with the deep hatred and discrimination between the people of sea and of the surface, the trouble in their personal lives, as well as an impending storm which may spell doom for all who dwell on the surface and in the sea.
This beautiful anime was made by P.A. Works! Who created Angel Beats, Sirius and Buddy Daddies. This anime is down-right amazing, from the plot to the art style! But everyone has their own opinions and they might think the characters are boring or maybe quite annoying! This is my own opinion so this won't be the same as yours. Why not watch the anime to find out how you feel about it? I can guarantee you that the visuals won't disappoint you (hopefully)!
