In the Usagiyama Shopping District lies an eccentric but close-knit community of shop owners. Tamako Kitashirakawa, a clumsy girl that belongs to a family of mochi (rice cake) bakers, meets a talking bird that presents himself as royalty from a distant land. Dera Mochimazzi, as he calls himself, states that he’s seeking a bride for his country’s prince, but ends up developing a mochi addiction in Tamako's house, becoming overweight and being unable to fly back to his homeland.
This is another iyashikei (slice of life subgenre that tells the story of characters living peaceful lives in calming environments) with sometimes a subtle tone of romance, dealing with the feelings of Tamako's childhood friend, Mochizou Ooji, towards her.
Overall, I found this to be a pleasant anime to watch, with good sense of humor, likable characters and charming environments backed up with Kyoto Animation's iconic art style and quality animation. I really recommend giving it a shot :D
