His story arc focuses mainly on how he overcame enormous hardship. enduring the most trauma one could bear, witnessing himself die over and over, and having his friends turn against and murder him. All of these things helped him realize that it's not about him or his ability to defeat opponents with a single blow (overpowered abilities) will not happen. He understands that being as smart and crafty as possible is the only thing he can do to compete and overcome problems in his way. Realizing he is not the "Center of the world" and that it is his responsibility to make the most of what he can hold and, in the process, develop himself to the fullest extent possible, he sacrificed himself for the benefit of everyone.
