#Game pacing and other things I dislike about the current demo

Did a few runs on hard difficulty, I had a great time booming with my eco and slaughtering the SWARM.
But of course the things that you don't like are always more apparent that the things you do.

What I dislike about the current demo version is:

  1. Game pacing, even if you have the muscle memory for all the hotkeys, you still are forced to pause due to the very quick pace of the game.

Example: A worm spawns in a distance, you MUST kill it. However it spawns a small wave to attack you a few seconds after appearing and keeps up the attacks in a very quick intervals. If you're me, you also have to defend the swarm at the same time and the worm scales up to 5+ hostility and now you're Fucked.

Example: Swarm is coming! But you have 30s to look at terrain, predict if it will split, build pylons for nice choke points, build walls, move units, build defensive towers.. Pylons alone take up like 15s, and TRY DOING THIS WITHOUT PAUSING!!

TLDR; The pacing of the game should be such, that even on highest possible difficulty if would be plausible for a human to play without pausing.

  1. Unit pathing and the road system are both an issue.
Units seem to get stuck on buildings or terrain at times, and also really struggle to walk through 1x1 roads/gaps.
#

Roads themselves are a redundant mechanic that forces you to spend a lot of time deleting misplaced roads, SHOULD BE ABLE TO just build buildings on top of built roads, deleting the said roads.
I understand that roads are a way to make sure there is pathing through the base, although artificially forced.

#

This artificial time waste playing around with roads being placed and then deleting the misplaced ones needs to go.

#
  1. Research times.
The research times are absurdly long for the current game pace.
#
  1. The build grid. Mostly with how it interracts with terrain. I don't need to see the grid over the terrain/unbuildable areas. It's just visual clutter.
Example: Building a wood cutter I don't need to see the grid inside the trees, just next to them.

Game pacing and other things I dislike about the current demo

#
  1. Movement speed of both allied and enemy units.
With how quick the enemies move, you really can't chill, not even for a moment.
However because Arbalists move just as fast, you can permanently kite the enemy, making ALL OTHER UNITS obsolete.
Arbalists should be unable to permanently kite hitless, and enemies overall should be slower, with just some of them being fast.

  1. Gas is the biggest limiter in doing anything and you can get upgraded Gas gatherer research before you're able to build them (needs stone, Tier II). This is stupid design, just put the research in tier II research building or something.
