#Direct Upgrade from Appwrite v1.5.11 to v1.6.2 – Is It Safe?
13 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Haven’t personally tried it but folks have recommended this script since it automates the entire process
yes it is, but before you do, please read this note and the entire doc carefully. make sure to always have a backup before hand
you can also use @gleaming pilot 's script above
Actually I am not sure if it is 100% safe, I just tried it today and was getting some weird errors during migrations, and migration failed every time to migrate "executions" for some reason.
I then reverted and tried 1.5.11 > 1.6.0 (run migrate command) -> 1.6.2 (run migrate again)
Tried it 2 times from scratch while testing and it works fine only when doing gradual upgrade.
@carmine bloom Avoid cross-posting here and in #🏠│general next time 😅
Also, I highly recommend performing backups prior to upgrade
1.5.11 > 1.6.0 (run migrate command) -> 1.6.2 (run migrate again) is a safe option. you can delete old images after, if you are worried of storage
No. Just migrate to the 1.6.2 and run migrate since usually 1.x.0 versions have broken migrations
I did that few times on different instances and it fails every time. So please don’t go yolo, it is safer to do it gradually
Afaik, ~~1.6.3 ~~1.6.2 migrations are the same as 1.6.0
But with some improvements
There is no 1.6.3.
Maybe you mean 1.7.2, that is different and probably different errors
