Hello there!

I wanted to know if the data stored in the self-hosted and cloud versions of Appwrite would be visible/used by the Appwrite team or some other 3rd party vendor?
I wanted to know as we are hosting an Appwrite version as well as going ahead with the cloud version for comparison. The most important question for us is the data privacy, hence, it would help a lot if you guys could clear the doubts on this.

  1. If we use cloud Appwrite, would Appwrite/any 3rd party vendor use the data in any way (to drive analytics, etc.)?
  2. If we use self-hosted Appwrite, would Appwrite/any 3rd party vendor use the data in any way (to drive analytics, etc.)?
  3. Do you guys have SOC-2, etc compliance verified certificates? Please share more about it.
  4. Do you use the data present in the database for any specific task? (Please answer for Cloud/self-hosted version)

I would really appreciate the answers as I have to convey the same to other stakeholders. Thanks a lot in advance!

  1. From what I understand not
  2. If you self-host, the data will be in your computer and from what I understand it will not be shared. Appwrite will collect statics but only about console usage and not your data
  3. As far as I know, it's planned in the future. Currently there's not any certificate.
  4. I think this is the same as 1 and 2?

Please help me with one more thing:-
I've recently hosted Appwrite on AWS EC2, and I cannot open Appwrite through the public IPv4 address. I'm getting "Appwrite installed successfully" in the terminal, and the terminal is also working fine, but the address is not loading on browser. What can I do in this case?
