The player bar/overlays
In my defence, I didn't know at first that you could even disable this. I feel like this should be turned off by default since you have a ton of key bind buttons shown on screen anyway. Furthermore to that though, if you can disable the player bar, why not the icon itself? I get that it's user friendly but I found myself questioning my existence whilst spamming the tab button to no avail till i figured out it was a setting. While we are at it, turning off the key bind overlays for the control scheme and taskbar would be great too. Also, hovering over individual cartridges a player has to see the stats on it would be nice. It's not that big of a deal i guess but I'd rather not be having a notepad out just to learn what all the different abilities do. FINALLY FINALLY, add a option to be able to hold a key bind to see the player bar and not make it tap to view and tap to view back.
- Disable player bar by default
- Option to turn off key bind overlays
- Hover over players cartridges for info/statistics
- Hold tab to view player bar should be a thing
.
Options
The options feel like a bit of a mess, all the different options just seem to be out and about without any specific order. It'd be nice to see them being put seperate sections but i get it if it isnt because its ok-ly designed. But just a quick addition to this: why is there a volume slider? And if we want to look past that, why is called volume and not master vol or something similar like it is in the actual audio options. Whilst we are on options, the throw mechanic is really silly and unclear. If you have random people talking on steam discussions of all things about what the throw even does then idk. I feel like theres two ways to circumvent this, one being a info box showing up when hovering over the throw keybind and it states something like "YOU NEED A THROW CARTRIDGE FOR THIS" or something similar, or just include it as part of the tutorial. Also, dlss or fsr, hell why not even NIS? I get that it isn't just a drag and drop and poof and its in the game but it is always a nice addition to any game, regardless of some weirdos who are anti dlss because of unnoticeable blur or whatever.
Basically, is this just me bitching because I do graphic design for a living? probably.
- UI feels messy to navigate
- Volume meter in options... why?
- Give the throw option more of a explanation
- dlss or fsr?

Handbook
This is just a nit-pick section but was this ever even mentioned in the tutorial? Not from what I remember anyway (i might be going crazy). The handbook is dope, but I just didn't know that it was there. I'm not really the type of person to view options for more than video settings, audio or accessibility.
- since when did the handbook exist???
(make it more clear)
GAMEPLAY:

Emoji wheel
It's a bit silly. you know it, and i know it. Ill go over some of the weird stuff first before I nit-pick as always. The dynamite icon, why is it sideways? Why are the thumbs inverted? These two things wouldn't be so bad if there was a way to customise the emoji wheel, When using emojis on yourself, why does nothing happen to me? I'm not crazy I know it works i see others do it and it works 1/10 of the time for me. There should also be a key bind to scroll between pages on the emoji wheel, and if that is somehow a thing and I just don't know how do let me know because i would like that. And if not then refer to the mess in options section. And it feels strange to use on controller but that's just the quirks of a controller and it might just be me.
- Strange thumb placement
- Dynamite rotation???
- Customisation / moving around the emoji wheel
- Use scroll wheel to scroll between pages in the emoji wheel.

Throwing cartridge
Why are we not able to use our mouse cursor to choose where to throw it to? I feel bad when i just drop stuff right on top of someone's head accidentally when i want to throw it into a carriage etc. I get that it might be a design choice like throwing in overcooked for example and that is a quirk i can put up with anyways I don't mind, its just a suggestion.
- Maybe throw using the cursor/joycon?
.
Hexnuts for beginners
pause. ekhem. anyway, I feel like these should be shown when you first die on your first train and not on your second one. (But I'm suspicious of the fact that I might just be bad and didn't make it far enough in my first play for a trigger to react to tell the game to play the hexnut tutorial) Or, option 2: I'm wrong and I'm writing this for no reason and it does tell you first thing.
- Explain hexnuts first death and not second
.
Text chat
I heard this wasnt going to be a thing, and I dont really see why. I get the main reasons, but there are some preventions that can take place. Phone numbers being exchanged? replace them with a bunch of *. Profanity a big deal to the company? do the same, no literally, just pull a roblox. You can even go the hypixel skyblock route and when people say something naughty just make them say "Unrailed 2 is the best sequel" etc. There can also be a report player section which isnt that hard to moderate.
maybe? :3

Keyboard vs Mouse vs Controller
This section was for last because this is my only REAL problem with the game. The other stuff is just ease of use etc.
Why is this game more keyboard/controller focused???
I don't usually mind these sorts of touch screen esque designs but it doesn't feel enjoyable in unrailed. I get the gimmick of standing on buttons at spawn, but for ui stuff why can I not just use my mouse to scroll through options for example? Or just even click different sections in the option options. THERES EVEN A SCROLL BAR... that i cannot click.
You must be teasing me I'm sure.
Being able to use a mouse would fix a lot of the nit-picks i had in the feedback thing anyway, throwing, hovering over stuff, emoji wheel etc. You can even add similar implementations for controllers in some cases too (for the hovering part). I'm not saying let me use my mouse to say where my character moves or looks, but on the ui side, come on. Can someone tell me if this was just a design choice for the game in general and its just a skill issue on my part? thanks. (I know this is a controller based game but whatever, I'm a ungrateful customer who wants to use his mouse fr)
- Let me use my mouse for more stuff :(
.
THE NICE STUFF:
I wont like do main sections I'll just splurge some of my thoughts since this part doesn't really matter anyway.
-
Art direction
it's great, just like in the first unrailed. The dessert looks especially great with the high contrast colours but that's just a preference I guess. -
Roll animations
very silly and is a cool step forward over the original. It'd be cool to have variation of some sort but I cant name anything of the top of my head. -
AI
Is it just me or the bot is really great? I will just tell it to place some tracks and it does like 5 other tasks at the same time, all without asking. The only problem with the ai is that it goes to drop stuff by the train before starting another task, and I just watch my train burn as bro tries to drop his axe and pick up a bucket (and then i realize i could've swapped, rip) -
Customization
its fun, and its a bit different. I wouldn't even be mad if there was cosmetics DLC in the future -
Remote play
Did this shit get better with the new game, or did my Wi-Fi get better, or am I hallucinating. My friend always complained about rubber banding and I had to set the quality to fast, but now he doesn't mention anything at all. It's great. -
Hexnuts
obviously, the new feature is dope. It'd be nice to have the cartridges cost less since I don't have enough time to play and grind but I get that its just a part of a replayability tactic to make users play. Still.... a 5 hexnut decrease on some stuff wouldn't be bad. -
Video settings
even without the dlss and fsr, the features bundled in there are pretty neat. I cant remember the last time a game used a resolution scale as that's usually done in driver settings or control panels etc.
.
with all my useless opinions aside though, this game is pretty great. seriously. even for early access its great. love the way unrailed is headed and the new additions are very welcome. Just don't do anything silly like ranked mode and we will be all good (having some random Asian dudes min maxxing to be top of the leader boards is enough)
if you got this far good job. your time got wasted
