Noted! For clarification: is it only too loud while attached to the wagon or generally too loud and it becomes especially annoying in combination with the milk wagon?

It's definitely when it's attached to the milk wagon only. We eventually got too annoyed by the sound and just detached it from the milk wagon and the sound ceased.
