Turrets malfunctioning and killing somebody in the process. Tripping over a conveniently placed starch kola bottle and breaking a neck on the hotel stairs. Taking a smoke on the open window suddenly getting all fuzzy while you feel that somebody's behind and fall out

And the real possibility that some of them are legitimate accidents, just to confuse matters

You conclude that it's a not murder things move on. The next day you get another one of them and say "Oh my bad [Victim name] I thought that guy before just died on their own"

i think the problem is that when a murder occurs, you get the radio call. So, it can't be an accident.
And if you don't have the radio call, well... you probably won't be aware of most of those deaths unless you walk on the corpse itself.

These accidents can be reported through the newspaper "A man broke a neck on the stairs" which you could then investigate and if it seems too suspicious start a case

That may works. And then you would apply for a murder form to open in the city hall

There were several occasions of that happening in the games. They just never had SOD handcuffs to put him on hold smh

Something like the “Jinx Master” or (borrowed shamelessly from Hitman) the “Trapsmith” is more catchy to me than “accident master”. 😛

But on a more serious note, I don’t think the current mechanic of announcing murders is a fatal flaw: if instead the police scanner announces “Dead Body Found”, then it would be up to the detectives among us to determine whether it was a murder. an accident, or a murder disguised as an accident.

I would even like to suggest a killer that makes it look like the victim committed suicide even, would make us players scratch our heads a lot

problem with that, you know they were murdered.

if murder cases could be suicides this would work, but that would require evidence types in case resolution to be changed a bit

yeah true, i guess that wouldnt really work out too well, unless they add in suicides as an investigation type where there is no (third party) killer

it would be cool but just seems tedious in the long run

however some ideas with it:
maybe if someone pushed them to do it? someone sold something that made it look self inflicted?

those would provide a perp other then the dude who died, i think just them killing themselves wouldnt work, but if they were pushed by someone to do it that could be sick
