It'd be neat and cut back on some of the tedium of walking back and forth if there were a few rickshaws taxiing people and the player around for a cost. It'd also make the city look a lot busier for such a small addition.

I think most people are misunderstanding this. He's not asking for instant fast travel. He wants rickshaws that make travelling faster, but also make the city seem busier. I think this is a great idea. Not only would this make the city feel more alive, but would probably help citizens who need to travel a long distance get to work much quicker.

I saw someone else suggest taxis and they got a lot of support. So I’m surprised this one is being rejected when it’s the same thing.

i'd love if by default it was much larger though with more building variations, imagine playing sod in a neighborhood instead of just like a 3x3 grid of tall buildings
