Nearly every time I've played the text clips through the world and is unreadable.
Have the scanner be able to document text written on walls, and create an evidence page that has the full text of the message and the type of handwriting.

I like this idea, but with the alteration that I feel the functionality should be given to the camera instead. Let the graffiti object be accessible from the photo's connections tab the way locations and people are.
I feel this would be thematic, give the camera something approaching an actual use in murder investigations, and potentially make it easier to actually capture the object than pixelhunting around with the fingerprint scanner

That'd work too. I'm just frustrated that the most reliable way to read the messages is to check the newspaper. The handwriting is clearly supposed to be a clue, but it's usually not legible.
