Nutered guns are annoying, i wannaa take out my trusty webley-fosberry and blast at the gumshoes, perps but i see how stright murder breaks the game.
Soultion, use blank rounds. Like in the movies.
This is how this always works in old movies. No one gets hurt from being shot at, unless its off screen or its the final scene, i remeber the scene of a blonde bombshell (like the dutchess sceen on the tv) holding up a brave PI, only for him to grab the gun, the gun go off and no one is hurt in the next scene. *
- this was something to do with the extremely dumb mmpaa guidlines about morallity, like having every non-white character with more two lines replaced by a hate crime*
I wish we could use guns, even shoot them, but just have real balloney aim.
Mecanically you could have it so the npc holds still with a gun on them, (just dont get too close) answers all questions (not nessarily truthfully ( lying and detecting lies 53% of the time is an update we know has to be comig) , and shooting at them stops them pursuring you if they are, or from fleeing, but you have to be facing the npc, and everyone calls 911, enforces shot at take thier ⁰⁰7 / charlies angels pose, 1giving yqou a few moment to make your escape / fatal mistake before they get realise you cant hit the broadside of a barn door.
This makes them a huge trade off from melee doesnt break event chains, and makes it an immesion tool, not a crutch.
just have a lore dump that real ammo is illegal but blanks are totally fine, have blasting replace the throw option, and make us place it down from the menu, and whenever you pick up a gun its reloaded.
Make us carry blank ammo, if one slot is too powerful, this soultion makes it an active escape tool, not a weapon, lets the rp-ers have a gun, but functionally doesnt upset the players who want to be a detective, not the worlds best secret agent in a coma fever dream.
