Food is cheap or at a crime scene. You can shower when at a crime scene (since you are there most of the time anyways).
Add a good incentive to use the house.
Make the board be only accessible from your house. You can collect evidence and note where it came from, only at home at your board you can arrange the evidence, connect the dots. You could see the latest state of the board at all time, just wont be able to edit. - only make notes.
===People will go home to use the board, see the evidence. Now when the time stops while using the board makes it a safe place. Shouldnt, risk the time to think about a case.
Pricier and better things to buy.
Better flashlight, Faster pcs, additional apps. Pc should start with an email. Then you could buy apps like house databases, blackmarket, gov databases, contacts, phone logger. They will be very pricy and only accessible by buying them.

**House db **= list of all properties with names of tenants.
BlackMarket = shady more paying contracts, buy info on a suspect.
Gov db = shouldnt be anywhere else, only very pricy at home pc since its op.
Contacts = People whose profile you have 100% done. You can search and filter through them.
Phone Logger = Just a pricy app same as the thing in the basement. QoL.
===All these apps will encourage player to go to his home, think about the cases, search and fill the board with evidence. Avg detective doesnt take his pinboard with him.
Right now, in my playthrough, havent used my house once cuz there is no point, nothing beneficial from going the lenghty way there. The fact that you would have your detective tools accessible only at home would be more realistic and much better as you will actually have to remember stuff before you can connect it to the case.
**Filing system **
A file drawer where you can save your current boards and return to them later.
Vehicles
Could be difficult to implement correctly.
Bikes, scooters.
