The community of SoD have insanely creative minds, how about a framework is added that allows players to post a case.
These cases however are not procedurally generated, as the players who post them can select some characters weapons, motives, vmails and clues they want to weave to craft a story and allow it to be posted for other players to download.
As i imagine it, the story-writer would create characters to be spawned inside the world of the person who accepts this premade story, as well as clues, apartments, places that would be also spawned in, (for places and apartments a random one can be selected as i dont think it would really matter, but you would be able to specify how many apartments you want to use for your story and if they would be in the same building or not)
Worst case scenario you can be transported into a new world for the duration of the case, that was tailored to the story-tellers needs, that would allow for small cases as much as a theft to something way bigger like a serial killer
