Fighting back when someone mugs you should not count as a crime. Citizens/Enforcers should still be alerted, but to the citizen who mugged you.

Also, the rate of people trying to mug you is too high. It should be an occasional thing, not something I expect to happen every time I go outside. It stops becoming an event that spices things up, and becomes a straight up annoyance.

I agree that defending yourself should not be a crime and it definitely shouldn't result in half the city trying to murder me because I punched a hobo that was trying to stab me.

Also, if you can lead your attacker in doors where there is a security system with sentry guns. You can pull the alarm and the sentry guns will take care of them.

Fair, but bear in mind that enforcers in this world don't give a single solitary shitake mushroom about actually investigating crimes, and that probably includes in the moment. Even IRL police don't bother trying to work out who actually started a fight before tackling everyone in a 2 mile radius, so I imagine Enforcers should probably just aggro on anyone who throws a punch. Not like they intend to respect the rights and liberties of self-defense if they don't feel like it.

The citizens shouldn't give a shit unless you hit them

#

The whole idea of a cyberpunk dystopia much like our real world (:v) is that people forgo human connection and a very vivid way of doing this would be by making the other characters in the city just not care unless you hit them or their partner, or their property in the process

imho the ai is written to react for distance and not for person or location so the devs won't change that

Just watched Jerma's stream where he was mugged by a hobo. He refuse to give him money, and initially fled. After a while he hit him with a punch while the other guy had a knife. This aggroed literally everyone on the street and they all proceeded to chase Jerma and he got a nice fine added. Self defense desperately needs to be added in. Make it so that the average joe doesn't care that the player gets mugged, but that enforcers will help if they see.

#

Possibly some random npcs might have a "helpful" tag that makes them go and call the cops

#

If they witness the player get mugged

#

But most npcs being apathetic would fit the theme

#

But yeah it was VERY jarring to see everyone pile on the player for defending with fists against a mugger with a knife

#

I mean just look at this: https://youtu.be/Fj3avvaDEtE?t=8126 [Timestamp at the start of run, but the mugging starts literally after 1-3 mins]

Jerma archived Shadows of Doubt (The original title of this stream was "Case Closed, hahaha (Editor's Note: Jerma actually has to solve the case first, that's sorta the whole point of the game)", and was originally streamed/recorded on May 10th, 2023)

it happens just a few minutes in after starting a game

#

the game has many derpy bits which are just entertaining, but this one just feels very, very unfairly punishing

I know the devs are focusing on bugfixing and optimization, but I urge you to push this one to a priority. Even just disabling the other peoples' aggro would fix like 95 % of the problem, can add enforcer response and callers later or something
