I can understand keeping the game in first-person mode, but I would like a profile just like everyone has in the city too: A portrait, an option to enter our own data like a questionnaire (and make it optional)

For now, all we can do is enter a name, gender identity, and skin tone.

I want to add more than just that.

Agreed. The skin tone part confuses me considering we never see ourselves! I like the idea of picking names for some of the businesses etc too

I agree, and honestly I'd like it if we had fingerprints as well. One of the first things I did when I played was look for my profile and was surprised we didn't have one.

I'd be shocked if player customization wouldn't be a thing in later content patches. Still tho, I need it bad. Upvote.

The skin tone can be seen on hands (when fighting or holding something). Not sure where gender is used though, besides generating names.

A portrait would be nice! I don't think it'd have to be anything fancy too, just a menu where you could mix & match current assets from the in-game character models. It might not add much apart from the cruncher profiles right now, but it'd be a nice touch if they added a detective license.

I've noticed that, even if you list your gender, the game still has a ??? for your gender when you look at your own profile.

Would be cute if they use your face in the newspaper if you solve a mystery or like detective of the month at city hall

Also I assume the characters are all randomly generated from a mix of templates (idk I'm just guessing) as well so a player customizer could be just flipping through the diffirent assetes.

I kind of like being secretive in your own profile, you deal with sensitive intel, it makes sense you know how to hide yourself. But this idea certainly wouldn't hurt if you can still choose to keep yourself anonymous.
