#Single use Taser

I thought about maybe having a handheld Taser or one of those short-range fired ones with a single use.
Having them accessible in the Town hall lockers/Vending machines at a high price of 250+ crows.

If it was one of the short-ranged fired ones, you'd have to make your single shot count and it could maybe incapacitate someone as long as a normal, unmodified knockout.

This could be a good alternative to having guns, as we don't want to kill our suspects, now do we?

There's incap and flash grenades, but this definitely could be the single-target, more discrete version to them. There's a place in the toolkit for something like that, especially since you'd theoretically be able to get a stun off without them ever seeing you. If it goes in the game though, I think it needs to have a relatively short range as well. Work to get the stun from stealth instead of doing it from the other side of the lobby

I just throw a chair at their head, it's discrete, single target, can be found in almost every location, and I can use it as much as I want.

I'd find a taser to be too modern tbh

There are people walking around with bionic bodyparts...

I'm conflicted. On one hand I don't want the game to move more towards having weapons to solve problems ... on the other hand it's infuriating following someone and waiting for them to stop walking for a damn second so I can handcuff them. On balance this isn't a bad idea.

Although - do truncheons already work to knock someone out? Or is it just a melee weapon you have to smash them with 100 times to disable?

With the truncheon, you have to beat them in the face twice for them to go down and when they wake up, they instantly run to an alarm unlike if you smash their face in with a door.

Yeah but it feels more like Deus Ex but in the 1800s so in my mind it feels as weird as having a general taser in fallout instead of a cryonator. Like it would break the immersion for me and would make me feel like I can just screw up because there's a convenient point and click solution to not get punished for my missteps

I'm not carrying around a g-------- longsword in my pocket. I think they should be out of the game tbh

Still thanks for the advice @remote ember 🫡
