Pretty simple, if a person finds that their computer has been logged into, like for example the detective leaving the device on, would prompt the person to change their pass. same for the government database pcs. where if they find that someone was rumaging around who didn't have access, will promptly change the password.

or maybe the enforcers just change it every day or two, as a security measure, we see signs of people forgetting it with notes, so it would make sense that it would also happen proceduraly.

with this the player would have to re find the code, or just be more cautious when using crunchers as to not alert the owner of any tampering,

Support this idea. Although it should be said that plenty of citizens leave their crunchers on all the time, so they wouldn't be suspicious to find it left on 😄

give citizens simple memory: did I leave light on? if no = why is the light on

or in this case crunchers

There should also be other ways to get passwords. Sticking a keylogger onto the machine and coming back to collect it later, paying some tech expert in a back alley to get you the code (or paying extra to be able to remotely access a citizen's computer, or maybe new tiers of code breakers that break the code faster or slower and are more or less expensive. I'd pay $50 for a code breaker that took 5 minutes to break a code to use on a cruncher in an apartment I'll be spending some time investigating or $300 for an almost instant one so I can get into someones cruncher fast at their workplace

THere should be more types of codes too. Pretty much right now it's just... random number, birth year, or counting up/down. Could add more fun things that you can just figure out their code from learning about them without any sticky notes. Like okay what's this person's pass word? birthday? partner's birthday? phone number? anniversary?

Some should just be open too. Plenty of people just don't bother with a password on their home computer. It shouldn't be super common, but it would add a little variety

I did have the suggestion of like, shredders that you could look into for shredded notes with passcodes, since so many of them literally say to shred this later

Past them back together manually

I support this idea, although I would want people to change their passcodes both after a certain amount of time, like within a week, or immediately if the building the cruncher, safe, or keypad is found in either had an alarm triggered on that floor, or the location itself was found to be broken into (items missing/out of place; cameras off; keypads unarmed, doors/windows broken, etc).

I was confused why you were insulting their age until I realized you were just joking about forgetting things when you get older lol. Tbf though, NPCs make it a point to turn off their lights before they leave the apartment, so if they get back and they're all on, that'd freak out anyone

How about installing a leylogger on their computer? Would be a cool way to get the password maybe have it emailed to you
