I have really enjoy playing Shadows of Doubt; it's a game unlike anything we've seen before in terms of depth and originality. However, after spending some time with it, I've noticed that it becomes too easy for experienced players. Around the 20-40 hour mark, it starts to feel monotonous without any real challenge. So, I've compiled some suggestions that I believe could enhance the game for long-time players.
One big thing the developers could do is introduce smarter murderers into the mix, just like in real life. They could wear gloves to avoid leaving fingerprints or clean up the crime scene thoroughly, forcing players to search for evidence elsewhere, like in trash containers or by checking CCTV footage. Talking to witnesses or people around the area could also provide valuable leads. Making it tougher to find evidence will really test players' detective skills and add a new level of challenge.
In world, criminals often use fake identities or fingerprints to cover their tracks. It feels unrealistic that everyone in Shadows of Doubt has legitimate names, addresses, and IDs. And accessing a government database for personal information seems too convenient and makes solving cases too easy. Adding more complexity by having criminals use fake IDs or fingerprints would add a layer of realism and difficulty to the game.
Computers in the game currently feel underutilized. While players can find emails on victim computers, they lack depth and originality. Every email seems similar, lacking context or personal details. Adding more depth to emails and incorporating a variety of personalities would make investigating through digital evidence more engaging and realistic.
The current CCTV and NPC reaction system needs a serious overhaul. Currently, there's a significant delay before alarms are triggered or NPCs react to trespassers. In reality, if someone is caught on camera or seen trespassing, the response is immediate. Implementing a faster alarm system for CCTV and having NPCs react more swiftly to intruders would increase the challenge for experienced players seeking a more immersive and challenging gaming experience.
Making too much money from missions is a problem. You can buy everything you need after just a few missions. Plus, some things you find in the world, like diamonds and powerful upgrades at the sync clinic, are too overpowered. Even experienced players like me never feel the need to use these upgrades because the game is too easy. What's more, the social credit score rises too quickly and easily, adding to the lack of challenge. They should make it harder to earn money, tone down the powerful items you find, and slow down the social credit score progression. That way, it'll be more challenging and more fun.
