#Allow /mod move to Enhance Message Movement Between Channels and Threads

Hey everyone! FA_meowparty

I've been thinking about how we handle messages in Discord, especially with the increasing use of threads in our discussions. Currently, we have the ability to move messages between channels. But wouldn't it be great if we could also move messages from a channel directly into a thread using /mod move? This could be within the same channel or even to a thread in a different channel.

Use Cases:

Maintaining Clean Channels: Sometimes, a side discussion might start in the main channel, but it’s more relevant to a thread. With this feature, we can easily shift those messages into the appropriate thread, keeping the main channel clutter-free.

Organizing Conversations: By moving messages into relevant threads, we can ensure that all related discussions are grouped together, making it easier for members to follow and engage.

Enhanced Moderation: For moderators, it offers another tool to manage conversations effectively without resorting to deleting messages that might be off-topic in a given channel but relevant elsewhere.

Would love to know what you all think about this suggestion. I genuinely believe this could help streamline our conversations and make our server even more organized! If many of us feel this is a good idea, maybe we can forward it to Discord's feedback platform.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts! 💬👍

Anyways, your title isn't about creating them, what is half what it does, but moving to existing ones so I gave you a like

It would be nice if threads got feature parity for all NQN's features, that's the motive

I'm thinking about this, and would it be better having the initial message kept alone as the thread starter?
At least when the destination channel is the source channel.

#

Otherwise the option is to post the first message standalone in the destination and thread all the others, or to post a "NQN created a new thread" message which just has the entire thread contents

#

In terms of implementing, I'm thinking of adding an extra button to the move UI next to the "move messages" button. Clicking it would pop up a dialog asking for the thread name, much like how it works for forums.
Afterwards I'm thinking of having it update some title saying "moving to #destination > chosen name" with the regular move options still usable
