the pre-alpha is for testing things, like checking for bugs and whatnot, so it's not like some kind of pre-release and they don't need a lot of people for it. so they randomly select some people from everyone who's signed up whenever they need testers, so there's no guarantee you'll be one of them. if you are selected (i believe it's usually every few weeks that testers are needed?), you get an email
