We want to learn what type of players are attracted to our game in general, this is not a preselection for invites.

Then why does the website say that it would "greatly improve your chances" of being selected for pre alpha if it's not consequential to the selection process?

What I meant to say is: the answers given in the survey have no effect.

We have been worried that spam applications could ruin the tester pool, so using filled surveys as a verification method is an option to weed out bots, if necessary.
In such a case people without filled surveys could be out of luck...so far we did not have to resort to such methods though.
