alright so for clarification. you've already hinted at "something" that may have effected the animals.
may that "something" effect us as well?
magic systems in games are diverse, for example, destiny has 4 types of play that use "light" to pull of feats that look supernatural, such as vanishing in smoke, creating a flaming weapon, or even just jumping large distances.
it would be useful to use a vague hint if possible if there is to answer with.
if you'd like I could give you a way to neither answer nor tell. but this is from me.
