Having our settlement inside another empire whilst wanting to talk to my empire made an awkward encounter..
Any plans to change empire chat to our actual empires?

110%, this basically means you have to use something like discord otherwise

I believe the plan is to give us an 'interior' Empire chat (the Empire our player is a part of) as well as the current chat option we have.

I like it the way that it is but I do think there should be a way to type into your own emprie as well
