#Setting "Auto target hostile creatures"

Context
According to my observations there are "stages" in how hostile creatures "approach" the player. There seems to be something like a stalking/monitoring stage (represented by a yellow eye icon) and an engage stage. At some point during the "engage" stage the game automatically targets the hostile creature that it hasn't target yet and no hostile creature currently being targeted.

Feature request
Can we have an option in game's settings to turn the mentioned auto-targeting OFF?

My reasoning
This feature was useful while I was learning the game and getting used to the targeting system. After 300 hours its starts to be more annoying than useful. Especially if I am just running by from point A to point B through a creature heavy area.

My character doesn't auto target hostiles, I always have to target them myself before I can attack them. I would love it to auto target them instead...

@tepid helm you might want to double check or report it as a bug. The auto target does work for me

Are you able to actually attack it without clicking on the enemy or pressing tab?
Sometimes Im getting the action buttons but when I try to use an action I get a message on screen that I dont have a target.

Haven't noticed any problems attacking enemies as long as they are targeted. Target drops pretty easily sometimes, but so far thats about it.

Attacking without clicking or tab pressing works as well

Yh then there is something wrong on my end. I actually prefer the way you showed me. Also when gathering and going to a different screen (AFK) and getting attacked. My character doesnt auto attack back, just stays there and dies. My gear is high enough to win with auto attacks, would be nice if I can just afk without the fear of dying 😅

Oh yeah. The character does not "auto attack back" by itself. I just make the sound louder so I can hear when an enemy is running to me and react (except it doesn't work with flying enemies...)

But yeah... I would mention it in a bug section if you can reproduce it and event better - record it
