#Use Mushrooms in place of Seeds for Catalyst

Seeds are super important for cloth making and cooking. To sacrifice them for RNG gambling is just going to put pressure on the limited fields in a settlement. Swith seeds out for mushrooms which have very little usage today.

I agree wiht this.
In order to even make most potions the base value of the potion is from 175-300 gold based on the quality... selling for like 15-50 due to people "dumping" the price for ANYONE to buy. Great for buyers but it shows the value of making these since the Catalyst isn't worth it. Would love the Catalyst just removed honestly.

Seeds needed a dump, but maybe just also add mushrooms as one of the recipes?

I think mushrooms are fine as a potion-specific resource. tree seeds on the otherhand need something. They're the most readily-dropped material in any settlement.

at least in region 2, once you get into t3+ seeds, there's absolutely no one selling them, and the price point to buy from other regions is high for their intended use.

a t3 crafting potion needs 10 seeds, and you're looking at a minimum 250hex investment for those seeds (in my experience). selling for even 300hex isn't worth the buy for most people for a 4.8% speed increase

i agree that mushrooms would be much better for the catalyst, if the devs want to keep potions as a "cheap and easy" use of excess resources

seeds definitely needed a dump, but making elixirs even worse than they already are is counterintuitive. they are already a net loss for anyone but a solo-scholar trying to make money.

Mushrooms are not better then seeds. They may be better then fish oil. As you go up in the tiers, the mushrooms get harder and harder to find, for me anyway.

Using ember grain into bread into food waste into fertilizer can ,I believe, break even on the fertilizer.

I don't like the catalyst use in salvage at all.

Some of that is simply because mushrooms are bugged and dont spawn in many tiers.

Some of the mushroom lack is a spawning bug, yes.

I should say, some is also my bias in that I don't want to go collect things I wasn't collecting before. Seeds and fish oil are byproducts that I already have, all be it not the quantities that I need. I'd rather step up my farming and fishing then start running around collecting mushrooms.
