It's not about sensitivity, smoothing or else.
It's about "I can't pan my camera any further than my monitor can allow".

So you hold MMB (or whatever button you bind), drag your mouse, and then your cursor is stuck on screen's edge. If you want to pan left, you need to move your mouse to the right edge, then drag it to the left, get stuck on edge, then again to the right-left, stuck, etc.

It's so annoying when you travel for search animals to hunt. You do too much mouse movement to just look around. Of course you can do WASD, but in point'n'click game mouse pan is preferred over keyboard. I use keyboard only to open inventory, enable sprint or click 1, 2, 3 to kill jackal.

So what I personally would prefer camera pan to be?

  1. Hide cursor when player do camera pan.
  2. Cursor should stay on same exact position until player unpress camera pan hotkey.
  3. Camera shouldn't be stuck when you look around to not do any extra mouse movements.

That's all I think devs should do with camera controller to make it feel far better than it feels right now.
