I do not know much about programming, let alone making a videogame. But with having the game be open source, are their concerns about players using the code to potentially cheat and ruin the game for everyone else? 🤔

People would do it with or without access to the code. But it probably makes it easier.
Though Open Source also means that anyone could host their own private server, whitelist a bunch of friends, and play like that.
If you trust your friends, cheating will be unlikely (unless you "cheat" yourself, by using godmode or admin commands or whatever will be possible then).

IMO, might even make cheating less likely, bc anyone interested in an accelerated game experience can make their own server. It's hard to know exactly what the impact will be.
