In case you haven't read the devs article on monetization: https://clockwork-labs.medium.com/our-thoughts-on-game-monetization-909976b5287d

Personally I agree with you- p2p subscription is my favorite monetization model. That said, if the game can have a handle on bots/alts, f2p could be successful and work great with skins without devaluing your time. (See path of exile as an example, cosmetics- not bank tabs).

#

And theres no doubt about cheaters in f2p. It will happen. It's a game of cat and mouse, we just hope that Bitcrafts cat is better than the mice 😜

#

But with all the important game mechanics being server side validated, the main thing will be botting, less exploits n whatnot. But you never know, that's the fun of making a game lol

oh I wasn't aware of this post, thanks.

They explain it clearly. I don't agree 100% with the chosen method, although it reassured me of no p2w, the "evil" side of free 2 play still worries me... since I've studied my fair share of human behavior when it comes down to developing tools in order to break or trespass rules...

I hope they don't rely only on a cat for the forthcoming mice, but also lay traps and triggers, and if they have enough revenue, keep tabs or player input timers over extended periods of time ...
