Make a server where you can try out all the cosmetics to see if it would be a good combo on a skin or something like that. As the previews on the website arent that good.

Or you could press a button called "Preview Selected Cosmetics" and then it could take you to a private world run off your PC but won't show up on the worlds list or files so you can't just mess with the files for free cosmetics in a regular world. Maybe deep in the lunar files there is a world preset and if you previewed it took you to the world.

Fair enough. But wouldn't the set world that would make it clear it would be preview? Like a form of common sense that makes everyone know what the lobby for preview cosmetics looks like?

There would be many ways to edit the background, in the store you can create a section and it would be much easier with your skin in 3D.
