When I enable particles, I get the basic particle effect, which is a bluish aqua colour. I don't really like that. It would be nice if there was a feature that would make your particles squares or a different color or something.

yea ik resource packs exist, but wouldn't it be nice to do it in the client? and besides, its much safer too, since many resource packs are just there to install malware and stuff
