#Add a test launch

Could you explain how this is any different than just launching the game?
If it works and opens - that's what you want anyway
If it doesn't work and crashes - then that's the exact same as a "test launch"
this might not be possible
I understand what he means
Now i added a mod that is not compatible. so it says "error" and things like that
BUT
If i added a mod that is compatible. then it doesN'T launch, but it says "Good! You're all set!"
it refers to launcher
The difference would be that you wouldn't have to wait 2 minutes for the game to launch
if there was just a "check for compatibility" button that tested it instantly it would save a lot of time
but if it doesnt launch how would we know that it will crash
Maybe it could do a super fast launch
Remove the useless checks and random things that lunar does when launching
well, you never know if those “random” things are causing the crash
I mean it launches it without actually opening Minecraft so you dont have to wait to close minecraft
so basically, faster launch time
Yeah work on that too
anyways i like this mod compatibility check button idea
upvote
guess what if you crash you dont have to close minecraft
because it crashed
Well yeah but thats not what I originally said
then what?
I like to test launch every mod because sometimes thats how you find the one causing the problem
Sometimes lunar wont recognize the problem
then whats the difference from just launching the game
it wouldnt launch minecraft.
When lunar dosent tell me the problem
I test ONE mod at a time
If it launches 80 times before i find the one woth issues
I would have to wait for it to open every time
so what if they added a pop up that tells you what mod is causing the issue
like fabric does
??
if you know what mod is causing the issue
the error wont be “unexpected error”
yes
its expected error
but on normal fabric it tells you what mod is causing the issue
even tells you if you need to update libraries
ok maybe you should go create another suggestion fior this
Agreed @strange wraith
Ok lemme reexplain
My computer is slow,
Sometimes lunar says unexpected error mods incompatible but it doesn’t say whats causing the problem so I go through disable them all and turn them on one by one and once that crash log appears I found the mod making problems that lunar did not identify. Cool! But I wish the game didn’t have to open every time I enable a compatible mod
Make sense?
that's not possible tho
crashes happen once the game initializes
lunar can't do anything about it
you'd have to wait for the game to fully launch either way
yea i said that
it is not possible
because maybe a small thing was causing the problem
there was once a useless file "usercache" that had nothing in it. and this file was preventing me from opening 1.8.9 on all clients. even though it literally has nothing. that is just a small example.
This really wouldn’t be possible without entirely changing how Lunar Client launches. It seems the major point would be to see if a mod will crash your game or not without waiting the full launch time, but you would need to wait the full launch time for Lunar to even know the information to tell you
slayed
This is also not currently how it works, as when a mod is not compatible and causes crashes, it’s due to our own internal Lunar code conflicting with it. Basically, the client crashes when loading our own code before it gets to the point of determining which Fabric mod causes it
So what if instead test button auto closes it
I still don’t really get the appeal. If it crashes or doesn’t work, it will auto close with the crash. If it does work then it will successfully open, which is what you’d want
Well like i said here read it
This is the point
actually theres a way to find the mod without testing one by one but ok
how
Only if the mod has issues due to the Fabric loader version or conflicts with other mods
"Unexpected error occured" typically produces no direct cause in the log
i mean like testing multiple at once
if you know how itll not take like 50ish launch
