Some resorce packs add models that look as if they are in the ground. Adding a x y z editor would help. Ex. a ladder is remodeled and item physics make it look in the ground. you ajust the Y number enogh so it is no longer appering under the block. And ( if possible) add a rotater as well. Ex. item is above block but facing diagonaly, rotate it 45 degrees down to make it fall flat as item physics is supposed to display.

That is too small of a change and probably needs time it won't be useful since you can just look at it from another way

This can be achieved by using a resourcepack's "models" files I believe

i think it shouldn’t be a setting that allows you to rotate them but instead a setting that makes items rotate in the air and freeze them in the animation when they hit the ground.
the difference between this and the current way it works would be that the items are not flat on the ground most of the time because at the moment it rotates in the air but is always flat on the ground so freezing the animation when it hits the ground would look better

this would make it more realistic due to it being random

#

and for items that are already on the ground or items that were unrendered it could be randomized

#

so the rotation doesnt have to be saved and it works for items that you didnt see falling
