In 1.21.4+, the blocking animation has returned via components. Hypixel has put this to use to bring back sword blocking in 1.21.4+, which is awesome along with other servers that use ViaVersion and are still on 1.8.
It would be nice if there was a mod in lunar to fix it up like 1.7/1.8 as there are some key differences now:
- Arm in third person moves with yaw/pitch, no longer locked. (since 1.20.3)
- Equip animation plays on use when blocking
- Cannot block hit as swing animation stops/snaps on item use (issue since 1.8)
- & if possible, the 1.7 block animation in thirdperson
It would be nice if there was a mod to toggle/change this stuff to be how it was in 1.7/1.8.
NOTE: If a Lunar dev is here, and wants to know how get the 1.7 block animation in 1.9+, I can help as me and a friend have the code to do that already
