#Lunar Client Flatpak (Linux)

Hey Lunar Client team,

I was wondering if it was possible to have an official lunar client flatpak instead of the current AppImage for linux.
Flatpaks would generally be better for most users:

  • They are containerized
  • They are always up-to-date (flatpak update) compared to AppImages which do not update
  • They're all installed in the same easy to find location
  • Flathub would allow users to search directly for the "Lunar Client" application
  • Flatpaks are becoming the universal standard for applications that can be installed on all systems
  • Flatpaks are generally easier to manage than AppImages

While I know that there is currently a unofficial Lunar Client application on Flathub, it would be better to have the official one (knowing that the source code comes directly from Lunar Client itself, without being tempered with).

I would understand if you do not see the need to implement a flatpak option, but it would be nice.
Even just having the option would be nice to pick between a flatpak/appimage.

Thanks a lot in advance, I would love to hear your perspective on this!

The app image version auto updates.
Personal Opinion: More ways to download the game is always a positive.

Yeah exactly

#

It would be awesome to have an official flatpak imo

#

Im not sure if it would be much extra work

First time ive seen this. I fixed the double input when opening chat before, cause that was bugging me. I've never had to use shift+2 or 6, so ill take a look if I get the time

It's specifically in 1.8.9

#

Im not sure if it happens in other version, because iirc LWJGL is fixed in 1.12+

#

I can't link it for some reason, but this seems to be a fix as well

thank you :)

#

and there is also a github page called mckeyboardfix

#

that has a mod that automatically fixes this issue iirc

Yes ik, I can't check it cause of the license tho

placid egret

It uses the Apache License 2.0

#

The mckeyboardfix that is ^

I would need to link the mod, and add the license. It's a whole thing. Don't worry about it, ill get around to fixing it
